A classic and one of the first RPGs!

Ah yes, Rogue. This game goes way back for me. Pretty much as far as I can remember. It's a very long game, but it's a great one.

Starting off with the graphics. The graphics are VERY simple, it's all in ASCII since this is an older game for the older PC. The enemies are in alphabetical order going along with their names, such as O is Orc, K is Kestrel, B for Bat, and so on. So the graphics, for the time, are fine. Don't expect much from there. You play as a yellow smiley, so you can't get better than that can you?!

The sound, there is no sound except for when you hit a trap which makes a very loud shriek. Nothing to say about the rest.

Gameplay itself is pretty good, the game can start out very easy or very hard, depending on what enemies are around in the map. Sometimes it generates a very hard chain of enemies on level 1, and with the equipment you start with, it's impossible basically.

Time spent, after all these years I never have beat it, but I never save either really.. Including saves and stuff, I'm guessing from start to end, it'll take you a couple of days, so that's at least what I'm guessing.

Difficulty itself is hard, but that's not a bad thing. It doesn't take away from the enjoyment of the game. Though one enemy you can't fight at all is the Phantom, so avoid him. Also, don't try to run from the Ice monster, he'll freeze you if you're in front of him.

The controls are quite simple once you get the hang of it. I would recommend pushing F1 which has all of the key definitions you'll need to know, and even some stuff that won't be used. But they're simple and basic, the main controls.

All in all, it's a really good game. You can find clones of this in several websites, just Google for it, being that the original game (which I own, ha!) is pretty much impossible to find. Try lookin' for it if you're interested or curious!
