Simplicity is key, SotC shows that for sure. PS2 greatest acheivement.

It is a shame they didnt make a PS3 game of this, else it would likly be the best game of all time and I would play often. For those of you that still have a PS2 or a PS3 compatable to the PS2 games this is a must play. The simple gameplay and overall epicness of the game is outstanding and has no rival in the game industry.

The story is simple and is purposfully mysterious. The main character, who we just call Wander and has no definate name, is on a quest to bring back a lost girl named Mono (lost love? Sister? never told). He arrives to a forbidden temple and is confronted by a lost demon named Dormin, a multi voiced being. Using a magic sword he supossedly stole from a temple back home he drives him off and is asked to do a quest. To bring back Mono, Dormin simply asks that he kill the 16 colossi in the world. That sounds simple right? Well, the smallest colossi are about the size of a rhino, the biggest are living mountains the size of small skyscrapers ranging from humanoids to beast.

Overall the game is very simple, climb the colossi and find a way to exploit his weakness, a glowing symbol often on their heads or extreamities. You have only a bow, a magic sword, and your trusty steed Argo (or Agro, it's debated). You use the sword's magic to make a beam of light that leads you to each battle and eventually use it to thrust it into the body of your gigantic foes. All in all it is such a simple pattern only a idiot would have trouble finding the beast.

The world is stunning, ranging from deserts, forest, plains, and ruins scattered all over. How and why these ruins came to be and how the land became forbidden is a mystery, but it is beutiful none the less. You will ride through some of the best graphics seen on the PS2.

The game does have it's problems. Ocassionally the game gets a little slow and glitchy during big fights. The story is very confusing, and has very little explanation that requires you to either guess or make up your own ideas. But overall SotC is brilliantly made and is, in my book, the best game for the PS2
