Game Boy Color done right.

User Rating: 8.5 | Shantae GBC
Every console needs an "arty" game. A game that pushes a console to its limits in graphics, story, sound, and length. For example, the NES had Kirby's Adventure, or the PSP has FFVII: Crisis Core. The game boy color, however, wasn't as lucky. Nintendo fans wanted something to really blow them away. Unfortunately, they would have to wait until past the release of the game boy advance to get such a game. That game was Shantae. After 2 years in development, it was finally released to the few people who still cared about the GBC. But, I'm rambling. Let's start this review.

The graphics just automatically get an "A". I mean, just look at the game's screenshots! Need I say more? Yes. Yes, I do. The animations are also fluent and smooth.

The sound is darn good, too. All the sounds and songs in the game are orchestrated with a fun, fitting tone. All the catchy tunes are put in just the right places. In essence, it's a bit like rayman in the music.

The characters aren't too bad. The story goes just beyond what you would expect on the GBC, but, sadly, not much further. There are several main characters in the game, all with distinct personalities; something welcome in any game, really.

Sorry if my review was too consise. All I want to say is that it's a good game, and I reccomend it.
