What a great game. Sid Meier has a long history of making very addicting, fun games. Pirates is no exception. Being an "open" game there are many career options to further your privateering booty. Trade, town sacking, ship pirating, buried treasure and even romancing governor's daughters for information to your "lost" family members. Sea scenes are realistic (water looks great). Cannon damage shows enemy crew and cargo getting blown off the deck. Capture enemy ships to haul extra trade goods around and find an even better pirate ship for yourself. Ingenious skill level system where you get a bigger cut of the booty for harder skill levels.
