At this point, it's easy to forget just exactly WHAT made Sonic such a big deal, and a credible rival to Nintendo's Mario in the first place. I mean, Sonic has had SO many mistakes and comeback's during his career, barely ANYBODY can keep track anymore! But after the disaster that was "Sonic Boom", everybody thought Sonic was FINALLY kaput, and who could blame them? After all, from Sega 32X to "Shadow the Hedgehog" and "Sonic 2006" it had been one mind-numbing mistake after the other. And just when it look like Sonic finally got his career back on track with "Sonic Colors", Sega came out with the "Sonic Boom" games. Well, after FINALLY enduring all those mistakes and hardships, it seems that Sega has FINALLY got the message of what the fans TRULY want from Sonic. So much so, Sega actually let a lot of hard-core FANS design this game, and it does NOT disappoint! The visuals, though they still hark back to a 16 bit graphical standpoint for the most part, are just SO gorgeous thanks to the Nintendo Switch's High Definition graphics! The controls, sound, music, and difficulty are also all perfect as well! And while a lot of the stages are returning stages, they are thankfully remixed and revamped enough, to make good use of all the three main Sonic characters that you get to play in this game. Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles, all have different strengths and abilities, that are tailor-made to help them reach different parts of different stages. The Bonus Stages where you have to catch up to a UFO in order to get a Chaos Emerald, may seem a little tricky at first, but with practice and persistence, every single one of them can be beaten easily enough. And the checkpoint bonus stages, brings back "Blue Spheres", including some brand new ones that will give even seasoned experts a run for their money! This video game truly represents the BEST of everything that Sonic the Hedgehog stands for as a video game franchise, and I highly recommend that you play this great game at least once! You will NOT be disappointed! Enough said true believers!
