Great Concept, Ruined by Physics/Level Design

User Rating: 6 | Spirit of the North PS4
Spirit of the North is a very calming puzzle platformer, what with the Icelandic mountains setting and very mellow soundtrack, where you play as a fox journeying through the mountains, with an ancient female fox's spirit leading the way and revealing old ancient myths, secrets and powers to you. The game is so enjoyable until you get to a point where it seems like you have nowhere to go and there's nothing you can do about it, and what's really unfortunate about that is that it happens quite a bit once you're past the first level; the physics of the game will limit your movement so much while jumping and traversing cliffs, or even worse, have you jump in the opposite direction of where you're trying to jump up to! You will waste time simply trying to jump to where it's obvious you need to get to, not because of the actual difficulty of the jump, but because of the game's clunky physics. Or you'll feel completely stuck since it seems like a ledge or an opening in the mountain is too high up or too far away, only to find if you try getting up there with every unlikely, improbable jump possible, you'll find a way. Overall though, it is still enjoyable for the most part. I just recommend the developer does a LOT more testing before they release their next game.
