A Party That Just Falls Short

User Rating: 7 | Super Mario Party NS

Super Mario Party is the first Mario Party released on the Nintendo Switch. It brings in a variety of new modes along with the classic 4 player battles that made the game so enjoyable in the older Mario Party games. You can use one switch controller to play, which makes it a great pick up for anyone with a friend they'd like to lose.

The biggest issue here above all else is that there's just not enough content to justify a full priced game. The online also doesn't have anything besides minigame battles, which is extremely lame. Only 4 boards, mediocre challenges and an unfinished feeling is what you're left with after playing Super Mario Party. There are a lot of new good ideas from the ally system, to the great collection of Switch rumble and move minigames. But, in the end the game just falls short. DLC could potentially make this game a bit better, if they decide to release any. Like I said, there's a lot of really fun minigames, and the two vs two mario party mode is a lot of fun and great strategy - but there's just so much missing, and a lot of minor gripes that keep this game from being one of the best.
