It's a decent game, but don't get your hopes up if you're an ES fan

The game can stand on it's own, but this shouldn't have been called "Elder Scrolls" at all, because it doesn't feel or play like any Elder Scrolls game. In combat you don't really have to aim spells, they will automatically hit the target you have highlighted, which is fine I guess, and is standard in MMOs. If you're like me, you fell in love withe the ES series of games because of the freedom you had with your character, class build, and the vast exploration across wide open spaces and uncharted territory. Elder Scrolls Online does not really offer wide open spaces, as the entire world is jam packed with quest giving NPC's and buildings... buildings everywhere. From a content perspective, it has a lot to offer, but it starts to feel a little stuffy and over-populated by NPCs and developed areas. I personally miss what the Elder Scrolls single player games offered, which was the ability to 'self quest'; whereas you explore apart from any quest chain, get killed my a strong monster, and go on a personal mission to beef up your armor, weapons and spells in whatever fashion you choose in order to defeat given monster. In ESO you are spoon fed every thing, and it leaves little to no exploration or figuring out of anything. Maybe it will grow on me in time, but ESO leaves me thinking about the good times in Morrowind, Oblivion and Skyrim.
