way better than i ever expected

I loved playing Skyrim - in my opinion it is the best fantasy rpg ever - and after playing it through multiple times ( all dlc all quests all items all locations all everything ) all I wanted was a new elder scrolls game to play.

i totally thought that elder scrolls online was going to be a warcrafty version of skyrim - with basic graphics and cartoons vibes and large boring terrain with the same five monsters popping up around every corner. I could not have been more wrong.

turns out this game is far more beautiful than I thought - and much larger than I ever would have imagined. my hats off to the designers - this game is so beautiful that I often find myself just taking in the view - in fact our whole group will just be standing there on a cliff talking as we enjoy the scenery before us. the graphics and details in this game blew my expectations away , and the amount of stuff in this game - not only content but options and menus and crafting and upgrades and mounts and homesteads - it's astonishing to be honest.

The base game without any extra dlc or added content is HUGE - more than worth the price you would pay for the base version. The added content that I have purchased ( summerset , thieves guild and dark brotherhood ) have all been totally worth it as well. I hear that at launch there was a monthly fee to play the game and I think it was very wise of them to drop that lameness and seek other avenues to make added revenue - and oh boy did they do that .

The Crown Store supplies numerous options for those who want to spend some real world money on in-game items and upgrades. aside from the additional dlc content you can spend 'crowns' on a new pets , mounts , appearance changes , equipment upgrades , homes and a plethora of items to enhance how your game looks and feels.

there is plenty of solo content to go through in the elder scrolls online - but for me it's the group content that really makes this game shine - and indeed it's kind of the whole point of mmorpg now isn't it ? from my experience you want to have a group of 4 or more players - but you can join groups as well to get stuff done if your buddies aren't around. Whether solo or in a group this game provides what seems to be endless adventuring for the brave explorer.

for those of you like me who were scared off by the initial reviews and monthly fees for this game I strongly urge you to check it out now. My entire gaming circle has picked it up and there isn't a day that goes by where someone isn't asking I'm ready for some 'scrolls'. Last word - while nothing is perfect I have to say that the Elder Scrolls Online for ps4 has been a very pleasant experience .. much much better than I expected in all regards. I explain this game to my friends who played Skyrim as " super ultra mega skyrim with better graphics and a thousand times more stuff to do " .

see you in Tamriel!
