The whole series is great, and this is no exception

User Rating: 10 | The Walking Dead: The Telltale Series - The Final Season PC

I have always loved the Telltale series of games, despite that they are really little more than "walking simulators" with quick-time events. IMO, there is nothing whatsoever wrong with this, given how these games are performed and executed. And make no mistake, the execution in The Walking Dead series is absolutely top tier for this genre - in fact I prefer the story telling, dialogue and characters in Telltale's TWD over the high-budget AMC television series. When I think of "The Walking Dead", I think of the Telltale video game series before I think of the TV show.

The third season of this game is possibly the best yet, continuing Clementine's adventures in the seemingly never-ending zombie apocalypse. "Kids in danger" is always a slightly dodgy narrative to explore (but also one the TV series has broached from time to time with mixed results), but Telltale 100% nailed it here. The stakes feel consistently high, and you are never sure who is going to live or die. Unsurprisingly, this final TWD season, given that it involves a certain level of "teen angst" shares a lot with DontNod and Deck Nine's Life is Strange games - except with a constant zombie and bandit threat. So arguably not that much!? Regardless, with the exception of LiS games, I don't know if I have ever felt more engaged and invested with the fates of characters in a video game - indeed, I felt definite tear duct stimulation at a certain point in this game, which doesn't come easy. The acting in these games is just the best in the industry imo.

Highly recommended for any and all fans of the Telltale formula. And for sure the game provides a satisfying and non-nihilistic ending for Clementine's journey.
