a creative JRPG-like game, much better use of Gwent than I expected

User Rating: 8 | Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales PS4

when I first played standalone Gwent, I was disappointed. I loved the Gwent in 'Witcher 3: Wild Hunt' but was confused by the standalone one. I also don't like console games having microtransactions.

Then Thronebreaker comes along, and I'm surprised how good the non-W3 Gwent is; it once again strikes the right combo of skill and lucky that made the gwent in W3 so fun to play, and plays like a JRPG! Who'd have thought of a JRPG-like game but with cards? Only CD Projekt Red! The storyline is interesting and builds on some of the best lore of W3. A big plus is also lacking microtransactions, whereas standalone Gwent has them, Thronebreaker does not. One thing that could use improvement is that as of now, the PS4 game seems to lag a lot and crash a little too often. But overall, good job!
