Why bother putting a gun in my hand if it doesn't do anything?

I got a PlayStation for some retro gaming. I got this game the same day i brought home the system. I couldn't stand it.

Let me make it simple: This game is broken. I was frustrated the moment the gameplay came up.

The game has you choose what to use before you start. For the first mission, there isn't much variety to choose from, so your loadout is pretty much pre-determined. It started me out with a silenced pistol. I realized quick it was a stealth mission. I simply had to infiltrate a cabin without being seen. Let me tell you now, this will not happen. Every time you peek around the corner you will be spotted. You will kill a single guard, putting the whole place on alert and getting you killed by all the other guards running to investigate. Two shots, and you're dead. Start over. Try a different insertion point. Same thing. Try again. Same thing. See what I'm getting at?

And that was on easy.

Did they expect me to keep playing? Did they think I could do the impossible? I just don't understand what to do. Maybe it was just me, but if I can't shoot people in a first person shooter, what chance do i have?

Bottom line: I did not enjoy playing this game. The only redeeming quality is that it looked alright for an old game.
