Unravel

I remember opening my first ever games console way back in 1989, which was of course the NES. Since then I've played countless games and must of accumulated 1000's of hours of game time. For me, the opening level of a game has to grab you and suck you in. This is what Unravel did to me, and i have to say, not since i found my self sand surfing through Aztec buildings with a sunset backdrop have i ever been more visually pleased with a game i was playing, than when i was playing this. The graphics are so cute and visually pleasing, you can't help but get drawn into the surroundings. I would urge the any player to wear a quality set of headphones as the ambient sounds are a treat to experience, from the wildlife in the background, the birds in the sky, to the gentle trickle of a stream, the sounds that accompany the graphics compliment each other tremendously. The main theme of the game tugs at the heartstrings, and will leave the hardened of gamer with a lump in their throat {although they would never admit it}!! The main protagonist {all be it a figure of string}, makes you glad he/she is on your team and that's just what you are, or at least that's how it makes you feel. Although the game can feel a little animated at times, there is a great sense of realism and depth, that leaves you feeling both happy and sad. I'm not ashamed to admit it...I'm a 36 year old male who played the majority of this game with a lump in my throat, Does that make me a pussy...weeeeeelllll probably yeah it does, but i don't care because, I've just played an absolute gem of a game - UNRAVEL!!!
