A wonderful addition to the strategy RPG style of games

User Rating: 8 | Wargroove NS

When I saw videos and pictures of the indie game, I was reminded of an old series called Advanced Wars that my friends and I loved playing when we were younger. When I saw that it was finally coming out I knew this would be something that I would have to check out. When I got it I was very reminded of what I loved from the similar series. It even had things like a creator mode where you could make you on maps and challenge missions that were difficult to overcome. Before long my friends even got the game and we were all able to play together just like we used to with Advance Wars. Needless to say, I’m glad I picked this up.

What’s working:

  • · Wargroove follows a similar gameplay style to great games like Advance Wars and Fire Emblem.
  • · Units are well rounded, giving you good options for both offense and defensive strategies.
  • · Units and commanders look cool.
  • · Although it isn’t very in depth, the story is very cool.
  • · Lots of content for the $20 price tag.
  • · Online features let you pick up and quit playing very quickly letting you get right back into it or stop at any point.

What’s not working:

  • · Making a small mistake, like putting your commander in the wrong place can cost you the entire game.
  • · There are very few air units which make your choices limited.
  • · Some commanders have grooves that are significantly better than others.

Recommended for:

  • · Fans of Strategy games
  • · Indie game fans
  • · People looking for a cheaper game with lots of content.
