@blondor: Both negative points weren't really negatives for me, but I tried to think about elements that others playing might not be about!

@Barighm: I tried both but completed it with the hybrid turn-based system. It worked really well for me and I felt like it was a really intuitive way to modernize that system and make it more approachable for folks who don't like turn-based games. I love 'em, but I get the fact that it's not everyone's cup of tea, especially with the more fast-paced direction games are going in.

As for "Remake" being an attempt to deliberately screw with fans, I think that's just a more cynical view than the one I take on it. I admit I was super not into FF7R when I started it. I quit after about 10 hours because I was super irritated it wasn't a direct remake and felt some parts were too drawn out. After I gave up, I looked up the ending and honestly, the fact that they chose to do something different and subversive made me go back to it and enjoy it. Square knew the game was so beloved that making another game to "replace" it was a bad call. So instead they decided to be cheeky and make a "remake" and introduce a game that exists parallel with the old one, not on top of it. FF7 is my favorite game of all time, so if I want that story, I play that game. I think the inventiveness of FF7R is something worth celebrating, even if, to me, that game is probably like... an 8? I don't know. I get your thoughts on it though.

As for Ever Crisis, agreed that it's a bummer it'll have loot boxes. Corporations are gonna be corporations and do whatever to get money, and that really sucks for consumers and fans.

@Reuwsaat: That makes complete sense! So I think you would definitely appreciate Crisis Core the most after knowing the full story of FFVII, but if you wanted to play it sooner, I would imagine it would be good to play after FFVII Rebirth. The next town the Remake trilogy should go to is one called Kalm and a lot of backstory is given there that will make Crisis Core make more sense. Rebirth could even end shortly after the reveal of the game's biggest plot twist, which would make Crisis Core completely spoiler-free!

If you're open to playing the original FFVII, I would definitely recommend doing so! The new Remake trilogy is not an exact remake of those games and does some really cool, alternate-timeline things that make the game very exciting if you played the original! <3
