@TheEroica: The suits deserve 100% of the blame. Once gaming got big enough for these folks to infiltrate the industry, we were doomed. But find me an industry where the consumers are the ones calling the shots. Gamers aren’t revolting against anything. We’ve seen their “boycotts“ in the past. A boycott relies on folks to spend money on what they want. Gamers think holding onto their cash is going to make a difference, when the suits just pivot to where the money is being made.
Nintendo being “behind the times” will be the reasons we still get a variety in games and experiences from them. They will rely on exclusive game sales to push hardware sales and improve attach rates. Meaning they will have to try harder to innovate and appeal to gamers. While the other two will just make what investors tell them to make, with a couple indies sprinkled in here and there.
