Literally came here to post this. Thank you for doing the work for me lol.
And no, you can't make it up.
The biggest issue I have is I'm not even surprised any more. I mean, these are the same people that promote fear of child trafficking (and generally bundle xenophobia and other bigotry into that as well), but still happily attend catholic church, promote marriage to children, and are even found guilty of (as in this case) child kidnapping and other terrible stuff.
Projection much?!
I love all the people earlier in the thread that were like "Gee what do you have against a movie that is against child trafficking?" to which I say "nothing" but the whole point, as we now see, is this movie is surrounded by hypocrites, con men, and generally terrible people.
@br0kenrabbit: There were ~7000 investors. Sadly, degenerates are everywhere and we don't know it.
Well then I guess 1/7000 of however many millions this movie made went to help this asshole kidnap a kid.
Good job, Sound of Freedom supporters!
@mrbojangles25: What?
It was a joke. I know that's not how it works, but if this guy was an investor and saw a return split 7000 ways, then 1/7000 of $150 million (or however much it made) helped fund his kidnapping of a child.
The irony is some people here were like "Gee it's funny how liberals don't like that idea of a movie against human trafficking" but then the movie is surrounded by really sketchy groups promoting terrible stuff, with the *chef's kiss* icing on the cake being one of the funders was guilty of child trafficking.
I mean...it's funny. Not like hysterical but definitely worthy of a chuckle, the circumstances of this anti-kidnapping film being funded by a kidnapper.
the movie is surrounded by really sketchy groups promoting terrible stuff
Yea. Like... promoting hypersexualisation, including children. Really weird these people...
I don't recall anyone saying it's our civic duty to go see those films like people are saying about The Sound of Freedom.
At least with the films you listed, we knew what we were getting and there was no real debate about it. They came, they were gross, they went. Also where are these kids' parents?! Holy shit who on earth would let their child dance like that WTF.
Also also, nice whataboutism. But back to the topic...
Anyway, I imagine Sound of Freedom will come and go as well. Hell I imagine we are the only ones still really discussing it, and that's mostly just b/c I'm bored and feel some sense of duty to keep this forum going a little bit lol.
