ive heard that because my processor is a celeron D (3.2GZ) that it would be pointless to buy a direct 10 card because its not fast so i want to kw whats the best card i can buy for $150 or under because the card i have now is a bult in ati 200 which can't even run knights of the old republic and also i wil be using this card to play games from late 2006 and earlyer so its not going to be for newer games

So u have a celeron D 2 alright its ok...
the celeron arnt etscatly the best but arnt the worst so lets me say i got a pc with that CPU and dose fine for games...

so let me say for ur price of getting a gfx card would be frist what ur psu got on +12volt side?????

and if it got like 18amps like mines 300w dose then u good cause my pc is able to throw any 6660 in it and slap and game at it in med or high sometimes.... but since ur in the 120-150range u can get preety high though anything like  300w will hold u bck to maybe 7600gs possible but thats with running 2 sticks of ram 1 hdd 1 cd/dvd drive and other stuff.... cause 7600 is a lil on the clsoe side on psu side for 300w...
so for u i sayed get a 6600 vannelia or gt or u can try for 6800 but that can be cutting it to there just like 7600 but less stronger.....

so its kinda up to u and what ur running
so if u pc match this spec then get a 6600

ur cpu
300wpsu 18amp +12 rail
2 blue led fans
1 80gb & 250gb hdd
2 sticks on ram  512 each

then u should propley get any thing of 6600
so if u post detailed spec i can help u more with ur selection.......

Uhh.. Yeah, I think that's: look for a 7600 series card, they are well within your budget (especially after mir, like this one). Two things before you buy (1) make sure your psu is strong enough (preferably 350w or more) (2) make sure your mobo has an empty pci-e slot.
