Best GTA clone or imitiation in recent years?

I've only played a bit of Saints Row 2 and 3 at a friends place and I've played about 1/4 of Sleeping Dogs. Sleeping Dogs seemed better, I can't stand Saints Row.

saints row but I have yet to play sleeping dogs. Im waiting for uber edition that has all the dlc that I know will come.

Sleeping Dogs hands down. I don't typically like GTA, but Sleeping Dogs was very enjoyable for me.

Saints Row 3 was the closest experience to GTA4 that Ive played so far this gen.  (this being said, I have not played Sleeping Dogs......also rivaling GTA4 isnt exactly saying much either)

Saints Row 3 was a natural evolution gameplaywise to GTA4 in every way possible.  That being said, it also came out in 2008, and Rockstar has came a long way since then, with Red Dead Redemption, LA Noire, and Max Payne.  Theres no way in hell I would put Saints Row 4 in the same category as GTAV.  

People also hate on Saints Row for the rubber penis thing and not being serious, forgetting that GTA started the silly not serious "parody" thing with the prostitutes, etc..... They didnt start trying to get "serious" until 4.  

Also, im sure Watchdogs will be the closest thing for a while.

I liked Saints Row The Third better. I've only played 3 hours of Sleeping Dogs but I can't seem to get into it.

Sleeping Dogs is my favorite clone, but Saints Row 2 and 3 are incredible as well (especially with friends).

Sleeping Dogs is much better than Saints Row. The next Saints Row game looks terrible as well

I haven't played Sleeping Dogs, but it looks like a pretty entertaining game. Saint's Row 1 and 2 (and to a very lesser extent, 3) are amazingly fun though.

saints row is better than sleeping dogs, an i'd argue its better than GTA as well.  Gta 4 was really boring for me, Saints row was way more fun.

Sleeping Dogs and Just Cause 2 for me.

Surprised by the lack of JC2 in this thread. 

So far, it's Saint's Row The Third and Just Cause 2 for me.  I only played a little bit of the demo for Sleeping Dogs and that seems really good too.  I'm thinking about buying it.
