Dunno, sounds to me like they were talking about using that TF advantage as a marketing tool.

For sure they did. But to be fair they were upfront about using TFs as a measure of power early on but they weren't very vocal about it. They always gave themselves an out by calling the Series X more powerful "on paper." Then proceeded to compare it to the latest RTX cards at the time lol.

There is at least one title that actually runs at 8K on PS5. But yeah it's kinda dumb that Sony and MS market these consoles with 8K.

The worst part of it all is that Microsoft has no talent to take advantage of those 12tflops. This is such cringe. You sell your system on those 12tflops, but forget the fact that none of your devs are able to offer titles that uses it.

No wonder Xbox fans are this frustrated. You have 12tflops, but your two big titles of this generation is Halo Infinite, a game that looks like its from 2010, and Redfall, a title that looks like its straight up from the launch of the 360's lineup. Its miserable. God its so pathetic.

It don't matter many of the 3rd party devs aren't capable of using the true power of the Xbox series X, and many of the reasons are economics. Devs put effort into things based on which console will sell the most games. Xbox gamers don't really buy 3rd party games all that much, we got gamepass and the amount of games on it are staggering. The poor cows have no games and their subscription service is trash. Ps5 gamers are the ones buying these 3rd party games. Ps5 also uses specific software while Xbox uses direct x that is more related to the pc than anything else. Devs don't optimize the pc version, because again money.

With that said, Xbox has a ton of first party games that show what the console is capable of. Games like fh5 and msfs20 aren't possible on the weak ps5.

Is it different than Sony touting the SSD as the second coming when quite a few games load faster on the Series consoles? Also, anyone expecting some huge difference between the two with the GPU's being so similar was fooling themselves.

What's MS gonna do when the 20 TF PS5 Pro comes out? They can no longer brag about having the most powerful console in the universe. How many devs are gonna wanna make their game run on a 4 TF console with limited RAM when there's a 10, 12 and possibly 20 TF consoles out?

When was Redfall a "big title of the generation"? It was just a game getting released that got a marketing push from MS.

See your not used to a company backing their products. See how Sony just dumped GT7 and Horizon FW on to the market like they were worthless toilet paper? Horizon didn't know what to do against Elden Ring. GT7, nine years in the making... And THAT'S the marketing push Sony gave it? I thought it was going to be a Summer blockbuster. Sony just took a laxative and shat it out. Sony had three big AAA games last year and instead of spacing them out and pushing them, two of them they just released with complete contempt.

Also funny you say there no talent, when it was MSs "no talent" that scored the first 10 of the gen with Deathloop. GT7 and Horizon FW scored an 8. And Sony are just constantly re-releasing TLOU. "Ah Sony... Dripping with talent". And when they do make something new and unique like Returnal, no cow buys it. :-S

As an Arkane fan, owner of a XSX and Gamepass subscriber, I think it's really bad that they let one of their best developers in the shit like that. Checking what's going on with one of your more talented teams it's pretty elementar. Like, protect your value.

Maybe it was a question of bad timing and scale. Still sucks and I can't defend it.

https://www.psu.com/news/guide-every-ps5-game-that-outperforms-the-xbox-series-x-version/

It doesn't mean every PS5 game, it means a list of every PS5 game that outperforms the XSX version.

PS5 vs XSX is almost like a reverse PS3 vs X360.

Being more powerful on paper doesn't always translate to being more powerful in practice. A well-designed architecture and better development tools matter more than raw power.

It also doesn't help that the Series X is being held back by the Series S.

The is so bad that you're trying your best to distance yourself from it? That is sad, real sad.

The only big games coming from MS right now is Forza Motorsport and Starfield.

You know what's NOT coming? BG3, the 2023 GOTY and one of the best rpg's to date. Sad.

No shot Baulders Gate 3 will be GOTY up against Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom and Starfield.

We both know BG3 offers way more, and is a more impressive game all around than the other two. Of course totk has the highest chance because milennials must vote for a franchise from their childhood, but BG3 is the kind of games that Nintendo isn't even capable of producing, its on another level.

No, only a few nerds that used to play magic. You can't compare BG to Zelda.

What's MS gonna do when the 20 TF PS5 Pro comes out? They can no longer brag about having the most powerful console in the universe. How many devs are gonna wanna make their game run on a 4 TF console with limited RAM when there's a 10, 12 and possibly 20 TF consoles out?

I don't know about that 20 TF rumor. Wouldn't a console like that cost a fortune? I had rather see a PS5 slim.

It might be possible but they will have to account for power consumption and price. These two things will limit the eventual ps5 pro. I don't think the ps5 pro will be more than 2 times more powerful than the ps5. I wouldn't be surprised either if it used a lot of the same components as the ps5 to limiting it's potential in terms of things like RT.

There's always a battle between price, power/cooling requirements. Sony will not create a console to lose money with every unit sold, minimum is to break even. Right there will limit what they will throw in it. Next the one rumored spec saying 20gb GDDR6X with 780gb/s 320bit is bull crap, cause 320bit bus with 20Gbp/s GDDR6 gets 800GB/s.

Now a 20 TFLOP based RDNA 3 is possible, that puts the gpu's compute in the range of RX 7600 which can do 21 TFLOPS. What brings down RX 7600 is all slimming down AMD did, memory bandwidth, RT cores, etc. So if Sony beefs up memory and RT etc it will do well enough to be a sub 200w gpu that could be quite a bit faster than PS5 especially with RT.

Now on to using Zen 4 is doubtful IMO, I think what they will do is keep the Zen 2 but increase clock rates a bit higher and increase the onboard L3 cache. Because in PS5 its Zen 2 with only 8mb of L3. If they increase that 32 or even 64mb would increase its performance quite a bit.

BG3, on Microsoft Windows PC, is awesome. It's the definitive way to play!

@kvallyx: When the Xbox brand is nothing but a subscription service, you'll have enough time to hide behind PC to look half relevant. The future is grim.
