Sales of Series X have been plummeting in Europe, and with so few must-play exclusives, it's not hard to see why.

The following will not read as a remotely shocking statement: Microsoft has pretty much lost the console war just three years into this generation. Well, at least in terms of how people historically judge the winner of PlayStation vs Xbox battles.

The War ended during E3 2013. The Xbox brand is nothing but laughing stock, and has been that way for 10 years.

I’m right there with you. My 6 year old has a Series S while his big brother has an X. $350 makes the console an easy impulse buy.

You can get a Series S for like $150 at Costco. I'm still missing this supposed roadmap to where they become the market leader when their consoles are going down in flames

If I played on consoles more, Id definitely buy it. Its currently $399 at a lot of sites ($349 was just Walmart and is sold out) and my 7yr old has pretty much claimed my ROG Ally as his own so I dont think id get much out of upgrading, not at $399 anyway

They sold less than 600k in the biggest month of the year, in their strongest market. they didnt buy abk/bethesda to bolster xbox, they bought them because xbox has failed and need a way out.

Here are the facts, most people buying a ps5 are playing a Microsoft game on it, ie cod or some other 3rd party game. You want to talk about exclusives, nobody gives 2 shits about the ps sad list of exclusives.

But the 15 million sales milestone that Ragnarok hit along with Spider-Man 2’s 5 million copies sold in a week really makes this part of your post completely fiction, especially since both games are only available for the ps5 currently.

@ermacness: I'm not really excited over either of those games, and ragnarok is a ps4 game. Sony has really good down hill this gen compared to last. It feels like last gen they actually had to compete because they were terrified of Xbox. This gen they're just making shatty remasters of remasters, and crap rehash sequels. Very tiring and boring system if you ask me. But I guess this is what sony shareholders and executives like...how to milk the fan base with minimal effort.

Every time Sony announced a remaster I shed a tear for the cows.

Walmart in Canada is selling it for $520 at the moment. Outside of that their doesn't seem to be many good deals for the XSX in Canada.

Man, be nice for everyone to see these discounts show up earlier. Three years later following release and still no official price drops? Ooof. These holiday sales are fine but meh. Took half the time to officially drop the price of the 360.

I have been a gamer since 1989, and I've witnessed all the console wars for over three decades from NES vs Sega Master Systems, SNES vs SEGA Genesis (Mega Drive), PS vs Sega Saturn, PS2 vs XBox, PS3 vs Xbox 360, PS4 vs XBox One, PS4Pro vs XBox One X, right down to today.

I believe that we are entering into an unpredecedented era where only one company is set to dominate the market.

With the release of PS5 Pro in Q4 2024, PlayStation will not have any serious competition among consoles becoming the most powerful as well as the popular gaming machine of its time.

I am eagerly looking forward to witness the next era of gaming as PS becomes the leading console gaming machine with no competing machine announced as yet. This has never happened before as per my knowledge. I wonder whether Xbox will continue competing amidst the relentless attack of PS, or accept defeat and chart its own course among niche gamers similar to Nintendo.

What? the PS platform has been at the forefront of the market for the majority of its' existence and in many of those era's the most dominant, PS dominated N64 and saturn, PS2 dominated xbox and GC, PS3 slipped back to basically parity with the 360 and was humbled by the wii, PS4 dominated and again PS5 is at something like 1.7-2:1 vs xbox series.

Sony releasing another PS sku within the same generation is not new nor is it new for Sony to be market leader, tbh I'm not sure Sony's market leadership has necessarily been a good thing.

And yet PlayStation has no games 🤷‍♂️
