I used to be into it years ago. I log in today out of curiosity and I see 500,000+ active players online. Woah! I didn't realize it's gotten this big. Played a bunch of matches and it was great (casual of course). How about you, SW? Do you play? Used to play? Any interest? I actually love these types of games. Reminds me of Socom. Sucks that series didn't pan out.

I very briefly played a bit of it back in the day however it never really was something that grabbed my interest all that much.

I played a bunch of Counter Strike: Source when it first came out, then discovered the cancer that is the CS community. So I just stuck it with Day of Defeat and played CSS the odd time when I was looking for a "modern" game but just with bots.

Played 1.6 alot, hated source, played cs go till global then stopped because I just don't have time like I used to.

Still easily the best competitive fps though.

Im playing again for 3 years now or more. Used to be 1.5/1.6 hardcore gamer back in the days then after CS Source i lost interested and moved to other games. CS GO is amazing though and easily i jumped in game once again. And playing almost daily a match or two, well when i have time to even.

I played the original and source around 10 hours or so, don't feel the need to play more.

I was always more of a Day of Defeat guy: Class based gameplay, WW2 setting, objectives.

Also really enjoyed TF2 and Left 4 dead series but I guess Valve forgot those series exist after they found out how much money they can make on CS skins and gambling.

Team Fortress 2 is a pretty great example of easy to get into, hard to master.

Jumping over that hump in CS while having to put up with the slime of the world, too painful.

I very rarely played. It was one of those games back when it was released that I was dying to play on PC and never could because of reasons? Hahaha I honestly cannot remember why. Maybe I was too hooked on Warcraft at the time...lol. I have thought about trying this new one, just I already got a shooter lined up that I play with my friends online. Rainbow Six: Siege :)

@uninspiredcup: Totally agree it's that perfect balance I seek in an multiplayer game.

The first hours you still need to learn the mechanics of the classes, the weapons the layout of the maps, but at the same time you are having fun too.

And then a hundred hours in you are still learning new mechanics and discovering new stuff. Like perfect cut-off points in maps.

But then Valve started adding all these crazy weapons and at first I liked that (the sandvich, the medival weapons for that grenadier guy, the bow for sniper and who could forget: A jar of your own urine). But it took away from the perfect balance of classes and weapons. Not to mention the graphical downgrade Valve did with TF2.

I haven't touched it in well over a decade, but there was a time I used to play it daily for the better part of a year. That was back when I played PC games, now I just console game, the CS they put on the X360 enticed me until I heard they just did 5v5; so fucking stupid. Yeah, behind me now.

One thing I liked most was the skirmish switching off of offensive and defensive gameplay (like rescuing hostages or planting bombs). That's one thing that's stuck with me to this day. I can't stand MP that's straight up deathmatch crap. When I play Battlefield, I don't bother with Conquest, overrated. Rush is where it's at.

I've been worried about the community putting me off to the game. Other multiplayer games already have that problem, but Counter Strike is a hot-zone for that kind of toxicity. Plus, what I've seen of the game just looks... off-putting. I've never seen the appeal from what videos I've watched, but then again, I haven't actually played the game.

I played CS Source with bots. Maybe played the multiplayer briefly.

But if I play a tactical shooter now. It would be Rainbow Six Siege. Which I have yet to buy.

Used to play it like crazy back in the day. Kind of sick of the same old static gameplay that never changes. Battlefield has spoiled me with its use of vehicles, gigantic maps, large number of players per match and destructible environments.

Was crazy about it way back in the day with 1.6 and the earlier versions. I dug Global Offensive from what I played but Source I really didn't care for. Haven't played either in a good few years though.

I used to play 1.6 years ago, tho i guess i just lost interest over time. I could pick up GO, but i ain't got time for that shit anymore. I'm a single player guy, with occasional bursts of Path of Exile, even that mostly solo.
