Earthbound confirmed for US/EU on Wii U Virtual Console

I guess they had to announce something that doesn't send my hype through the roof.  

I tried getting into Earthbound a couple of times and it just wasn't happening.  I may give it another shot though.

The game's so unique that it hasn't really aged.. at all, so age is irrelevant. Mother 3 is the only thing that surpasses it, but it was only released in Japan on the GBA, which is a f*cking shame.

let Nintendo hear the truth on the Miiverse....they announced that's how fans of earthbound got their attention to bring Earthbound to the VC

maybe Miiverse is a great way of letting Nintendo know exactly what we want?

Meh. Great game and all, but it's gonna take a whole lot more than that to get me to buy the WiiU. This is the longest I've ever waited after a console's release to buy it. Pretty said what Nintendo has become.

if you watched the Direct, Iwata said it has all of the content of it being a New Game, but it's DLC.

and if you also Watched the Direct you would know Super Luigi U is actually New Super Mario Bros. U SUPER HARD MODE cause all levels have a time limit cap of 100 seconds.

$20 seems like the sweet spot to me...defintely no more than $30

Finally...

most people who want to have played it in english already have. It may not be official, but oh well. The translation of games like this when done by dedicated fans can be just as good as any official source sometimes.handssss

Not the people that aren't familiar with the series, a re-release on VC with a decent pre-launch hype can spark the game for a new crowd. Same for Earthbound, to be honest.

I definitely agree that translations done by fans can easily be as good as any official translation, or in some cases, surpass the official translation.

Yeah its old, but its from my favorite era of gaming.  When I cant get into a 16 bit rpg something just isn't right.  :P

I'm sure its cool, I know so many gamers with good taste that absolutely love the game.  It just didn't click with me.

I'm sure its cool, I know so many gamers with good taste that absolutely love the game.  It just didn't click with me.

While I absolutely adore the game and feel that is timeless, the dozens of people that I've introduced it to have either been completely sucked in or completely turned off.  It seems to be a polarizing type of game, which given its aesthetics and odd gameplay quirks, doesn't surprise me in the slightest.

I dunno how much you've played of it, but what i gotta say (and that goes for other people) is that the game's got a slow start. It's a relatively long game, 20 - 30 hours in length. I don't wanna spoil to much, but try playing it until the battle with Frank (not that long into the game wen you fight him). The game steadily gets better and better after that. This is from personal experience, if i would have quit before that, i would have had the opinion that the game is average.

The combat doesn't have a good presentation at all, and it's not the best i've played. But it was a very refreshing experience to play.
