UPDATE: Capcom has now confirmed this hack/leak is real

This is double of what Sony paid Capcom to have RE7 VR/timed DLC/demo exclusivity.

If this isn't an indicator of how serious Google is about Stadia, I don't know what is.

And this is why publishers removed games from GeForce Now, because Nvidia paid 0$.

It's a sign how desperate Google is to get anything on stadia that's for sure. Maybe all that money is clouding Google's eye sight, but everyone else can see stadia is dead, time to let go google.

Uh, Sony Microsoft and Nintendo still spend this kind of money to get console exclusivity as stated in the OP. It's how this industry works.

@Rikusaki: And Sony and MS are successful, stadia is dead and google is dumping money down the drain hoping it will make a difference (hint, it's not).

Yes and no. Market cap and cash aren't the same thing. Google may have a trillion dollar valuation, but they only have around 100B in cash at any given time. They can't just spend $10M willy nilly. This is a serious move no matter how you slice it.

Microsoft also has a 1T valuation and around 130B cash on hand. As far as I know, they haven't spent this much cash to have a couple games ported.

MS, Sony and Nintendo still pay millions for exclusivity and first party development. This would be the course of action for any growing platform. This is how the game industry works.

Paying for exclusives is one thing, paying just to get multiplatform games on the thing is entirely different, and Crapcom are money hungry so its no surprise they took Google for all they could lol.

Google got scammed. Nintendont only paid $6m for Capcom to develop and make Monster Hunter Rise timed exclusive on the Switch.

I don't get it. Do they get any money at all from Stadia? Who the hell uses that thing? I've heard of no one in my area who even knows this exists.

Is there a number of users somewhere?

@Rikusaki: The difference here is that Google is paying for ACCESS to these games, not exclusivity.

Microsoft and Sony aren't paying 3rd parties to put games on their platform, they do it because they want to make money and those platforms have the install base.

This is equivalent to paying Capcom to develop for their platform in general, not to keep content -they were already going to publish- exclusive.

RE7/8 are not Stadia exclusive

Yes, and it saw massive growth upon the launch of Cyberpunk 2077. The launch was so successful that Google had to end the pre-order bonus 4 days early. They literally ran out of Premiere bundles.

Well this is were gaming is heading subscription fees and timed exclusivity just like we have now with Netflix, Disney + and many more. Just the beginning don’t worry it will get worse with content and leaving crap out of game that was supposed to be in for exclusivity

I don't think Resi is a system seller, and hasn't been since 4 to my mind. 5 had hype, but pretty much killed any notion of it selling systems. 7 was a step in the right direction, but it was about rebuilding the reputation from 6, and the remakes are just that, remakes. I can't say it's going to sell systems, if they did an exclusivity deal Resi would limit it's sales rather than boost the console it was on to my mind.

100B+ in cash is an awful lot of money and that's why companies try to use it rather than have in bank getting devalued. $10M is literally chump change for them. They would rather invest it.

Also, MS has paid what 20-30M to have streamers on whatever their streaming service was.

Ummmm....MS paid Square Enix and Rockstar to have Final Fantasy and GTA V on 360. People don't tend to remember that multiplats only became common in gen 7 but MS had to to pay to get the ball rolling in the first place.

I wouldn't be surprised if they even also paid to have Yakuza etc. come to Xbox.

why should we as consumers have to pay twice to play our games which we own? Streaming a game vs just downloading it to the hdd first should be up to the consumer. This whole thing is sketchy af.

Stadia will bring in new gamers into the fold that other platforms couldn't before due to the high barrier of entry. You won't see many Stadia users posting here.

The Stadia subreddit was the 22nd fastest growing overall sub when CP2077 launched. It's closing in on 100k members. The service isn't dead as you'd like to believe.
