Playstation 5 specs leaked! (Project Aerial)

The leak comes via Beyond3D but has been reported by several sites. Playstation 5 is going by the working name Aerial and is scheduled for release in the first half of 2020 with a reveal in the next 3 months.

Can't say for sure if this is the development kits or what they are targeting for final hardware, either way it's absolutely beast.

CPU - 8c16t Zen2 @3.2ghz

GPU - 14.2tflop Navi graphics engine

20GB GDDR6, 880Gb/s 4GB DDR4 OS

2TB HDD

I guess we will find out soon enough but this would be an absolute beast machine easily capable of outdoing even the best current rigs with console optimization. Could be a dev kit though, even then at 15% reduction in capability it would be powerful.

GCN limitations will not allow that GPU, unless it was highly clocked. And that Gonzalo leak was months ago.

underpowered. The PS5 need to be at least at 24tflops, 32gb DDR6, 512gb SSD, 4tb hdd next gen+ architecture to impress my 4th gen i5, 8gb ddr3-1600mhz gtx 1060 1.5tb hdd.

Well I was figuring on a 2020 release I would have pictured it happening in the near end of the year. Anyway this is just a rumour right now so we’ll see.

I have had thoughts about Sony cancleing all these events to do a big blowout event this Summer with a PS5 release in Spring 2020. That way they beat Xbox to the punch.

It makes sense since Japanese fiscal year ends like in March.

I wonder if Sony is gonna bother with a $500 box, and since Xbox fans are completely use to that price, I don't think it will matter if Sony comes out a year early'ish, cause it won't be as strong either way.

So 0.4tflops higher base grunt vs Radeon VII while needing about half the power draw+using memory with higher power draw than hbm2. Excuse my skepticism but gl AMD...

Even at the above specs its just a mid gen upgrade relative the pro and X.

Those specs look very high-end. If true, then Sony would either have to sell that at a very high price, or sell it at a loss.

I think non can deliver anything more than that, releasing mid gen machines is a blessing and a curse, to be a decent next gen jump at least 5 times as powerful the console need to be 30TF in the case of the xbox one x and like 22 TF to be a big jump over the pro and I just don't see such jump by 2020.

Sounds like a dev kit to me. I'm thinking the actual unit will be around 10TF and 16 - 20 Gig of GDDR6 ram but all the other info falls in line which what I have speculated for the system.

Were you one of the guys who bought a mid-gen system and desperately try to lump it into the generation equation not realizing that all current gen games are still developed around the limitations base PS4 and Xbox one specs?

Sony said PS5 is going to be a next generation system and not tether it to PS4 hardware. No matter if PS5 is 14 or 10TF, it's not going to be a mid-gen anything because, at least exclusive, development will start and end with PS5 hardware.

This has become my number one rule with fakes, except I use Era now instead of NeoGaf. There is no buzz on the more reputable sites, so I'm not giving this leak much mind.

20 gbs of RAM makes it feel more like a dev kit than a consumer product. Even the highest end PC game at 4k don't need more than 8 gbs of VRAM and games themselves don't need more than 4-5 gbs of RAM. 12-16 gbs of ram makes a lot more sense for a consumer product than 20.

I'm skeptical as well with that GPU performance too. Seems high for a cheap console.

I can completely believe the new consoles may launch at $500 this time around, or $450, but I find it hard to believe they can pack that power into that price range.

If these things arrive before 2022 then I hope they fail. They need to take their time and give us a real upgrade when the time is right. Not this cash grab early adopter bullshat.

It will be weaker then that sadly. The memory configuration not only make it look fake but unnecessary cost.

Why do people keep falling for these fake specs?

I believe the 2TB HDD part. It would need to be given install sizes these days. Hell, the Galaxy S10 has a 1TB HDD and it's a f**king phone.

I'm going to wait and see what's announced and shown before getting excited. I'm still pretty happy with my launch PS4's capabilities.

@sakaixx: Considering current gen games already look and run incredibly well, those specs would be more than enough.

Totally fake, but big shout out to the people saying a 14TLop gpu is a mid gen leap over 6. So glad that obvious bullshit coud expose the next lamedick Lemming talking memo for the PS5 announcement.

I hope those are real. I keep hearing so much shit that all this tells me nobody knows any hard specs. One day its 8tflops( seems to low) another day its 14( seems to high). So who knows.

I view it more as blessing. The never-ending cycle of pushing graphics is closing because of technical and economical limitations. Developers would be forced to attract gamers in new ways besides just graphics. The jump graphically "next gen" is going to be smaller than any previous generation.

You do realize that in an ideal world with no CPU bottleneck and perfect linear scaling that leap would net you a little more than twice the framerate at a given res with the same graphics? A game that is 4k/30 would be 4k/60. That's it.

We don't know much about newer stuff from AMD yet.

Those specs leave a lot of unanswered questions, I don’t believe it. Although I am excited to see what next gen consoles have to offer.
