I'm really stuck on what to get. This summer I should be able to raise enough money to buy either of the two, with a ps4 to get a tv with it as well. I cant decide and both are pretty pricy, and I wanted to see what other gamers have to say about the above systems. Either way I will end up getting one but just unsure of what to get. I want to get the PS4 for Kingdom Hearts 3 (if its ever released) But i also have a few steam games that are unplayable on my current computer. any advice?

Edit: For the above, I meant one of the newer ones like the Alienware Area 51

Neither. Build a system yourself, you'll save money and get better hardware as well.

Also with a PC you can emulate every single Kingdom Hearts game except 3 (legally if you own them) in 1080p and higher with anti aliasing and all the goodies. Currently playing KH 1 on PC and it looks amazing.

Just saying "Alienware" is not very helpful, and most people will tell you to build your own PC rather than buy an alienware prebuilt

Try just buying parts to upgrade your computer if possible, if it is prebuilt, can you check the insides to see if it has PCIE slot, then you could buy a GTX 750 ti and slide it right in.

Buy PC parts individually, and if you don't want to assemble yourself, have a computer store do it for like $50.

Just saying alienware doesn't say much. The often equip high end CPUSs with low GPUs for shits and giggles.

I would say go with the PS4 if you don't want to tamper with PC and learn to build one.

If you mention Kingdom Hearts it signifies you care about Japanese games, in that case get PS4 (neo) it's guaranteed to get the most and best there are to offer including Final Fantasy XV and Persona 5.

Unless you really care about top down strategy games PS4 is your best bet because it's getting the vast majority of best high quality PC games coming out anyway on top of niche and high popular Japanese content that may or may not ever see the light of day on PC.

Lol@Alienware. Their base Area 51 is 2600$ and sports 8GB of RAM along with a 370 and a core i7 Haswell. At that price I could shove 2 980 Ti's, 32GB of DDR4, a Skylake 6700K and X99 motherboard.

Their crap is MASSIVELY overpriced. Especially for desktops.

I would get Alienware over a PS4 any day of the week. I have an Area 51 with triple vid cards and the machine is just sick amazing. You can get a base Area 51 for $1600 if you are set on Alienware. I got my son an Alienware X51 for Christmas this past year, and he loves it.

@kvally: Well as long as you are happy with you're purchase of Alienware and not building a PC on you're own, then who am I to judge? Buying pre-builds isn't wise but they do have there purpose for those who doesn't want to build a PC.

Go to any computer store and ask them to build you a pc if you can't on your own. They will charge you for components plus some 100-200 bucks for assembling. It still will be cheaper and better than Alienware. You can also check prebuilts of no brand on newegg.

Alienware > Xbore One > PSbore

describing a console as "boring" is the definition of not having anything negative to say about a system that is crushing your favored one. The PS4 is that good. Lems are having a hard time finding anything negative to say. Rough times.

As many others have said build a PC. Alienware is not value for money.

With a PC you'll get everything a PS4 will have apart from a handful of Sony exclusives, of course to counter that you'll get a myriad of PC exclusives instead.

If you have PC games to play now then get a PC. Who even knows if Kingdom Hearts 3 will release in this console generation? And with how things are going, SquareEnix will put that one on PC too when it finally does come out.

But I agree with everyone else. Best to just build one. It really doesn't take long, and it's not in any way difficult either. Just watch a tutorial video on youtube about how to put one together, post on the PC forum about what you want to build and what budget you have, and then in a few days when you get your parts it'll take an hour or two to put together. For that, you'll save hundreds of dollars, and get a much better product in the end.

Alienwares are so ridiculously expensive.... PS4s are so cheap. You could easily use the money you would have saved for an Alienware A51 to buy both a PS4 for your Japanese games fix AND perform a strategic upgrade of some of your current PC's components so that you can play those Steam games you've got kicking around.

And with good reason as Alienware is way way overpriced for the brand name and marketing as a gaming PC. REally any PC of decent enough quality can serve that very purpose. This does seem an odd comparison since having an Alienware as an option indicates an exorbitant amount of money to spend, that this guy could just as easily have both a custom built PC AND a PS4 with the alloted budget.

Oh and to address you directly KeyProtector, if you don't know how to build yourself (typically the target consumer for AW), even if you factor in the cost for having someone do it for you (many tech shops prices are reasonable) that will still save you substantially from what you'd pay for an Alienware, and getting a rig just as good as, if not even better for a fantastic gaming experience.

If your going to go the way of PC the best way to go is to pick the parts and have a professional build it.

If you want to get good at building them pick cheap parts for like a internet surfing machine or something so if you screw up you're not out all that money.

Build it! Not only is it cheaper, but it will make you smarter.......

However, at the risk of backlash, I do see the appeal of getting one of those Alienware Alphas, especially if you're just looking for a cheap and easy way to explore what PC gaming has to offer before really diving in with your wallet in tow.

Someone can vouch for this as I'm not highly knowledgeable if this is good or not. But I've been checking this website www.build-gaming-computers.com each month they have builds for budget, mid-range, and high end. Then also go over switching out parts in the different ranges.

Just seeing it laid out seems like Alienware is a waste of money.

Alienware is not a waste of money. Building your own PC is NOT for everyone. Making that recommendation to anyone that is interested in companies like Alienware and Razer is a fusion of arrogance and ignorance. If you are interested in purchasing an Alienware insure you take advantage of their deals and coupons. If you can wait for back to school season, the deals would be better.

I ended up grabbing the Alienware Alpha about a year ago. It is a nice little machine to play my ridiculous backlog of games from last generation. Alienware will definitely do the trick and the extended warranty will help out if your not in the mood to deal with troubleshooting any issues you run into. You end up paying a huge premium though. If your looking for a PC for current gen/long term, it is probably more realistic to build your own.

If you can get a Alienware alpha for around $400 like I did.. You will not be able to save money building your own.. I know I have tried in trying to build a similar set up.. It always goes over by alittle bit with component costs and is much larger of a build than the Alpha's 6 lb small box.. The machine is a helluva deal that even down the road when you get am ore powerful machine it will still be useful due to it's compact and small size with extreme ease in taking it anywhere you want..

If you want to build a PC or want a Ps4, either way just wait for either the Ps4 Neo or for the Zen and Polaris hardware to come out.
