Rumour 3D donkey kong game expected at nintendo E3 showcase

made by the mario odyssey team. there hasn't been a 3D donkey kong since the nintendo 64.

this will outsell ratchet and clank easily. this will make ratchet and clank look boring and dull in comparison.

as for sales? im sure it will outsell horizon forbidden west and god of war rangorok. maybe even both of them put together!

there are also rumours its a 2d donkey which is still hype but not as much and will sell much less imo. :(

Yeah I know a 2D game is more likely, which will still be good. But it seems like a waste not to use the Mario Odyssey team for a full 3D game... unless this is like a side project for them.

This would be fantastic news. I am confused by the random comparison to R&C because they will both end up being good games (providing the team who made Mario Odyssey is actually the ones behind this project as well).

Knowing Nintendo it's probably a $40 rerelease of DK64.

I grew up with Donkey Kong Country and its one of my all time favorite series. Didn't buy a Wii U until tropical freeze came out. On the other hand, it's possible to like Ratchet and Clank too. Considering Nintendo had its blunders with Wii U, I don't get why sheep are using sales to talk shit. Have a seat kbfloyd, several seats.

The more the merrier. I'm so excited for this years E3 with Nintendo. I truly hope they do deliver.

I don't. I'm glad they threw Retro at Metroid Prime 4 if they knew the production wasn't going well. I want MP4 to hit it out of the park.

You guys on this board are so obsessed with sales in order to justify your purchases, it's unreal.

To be honest, a Donkey Kong game isn't the same without Rare's blessing and while Tropical Freeze was good, it just wasn't a Donkey Kong Country like game I grew up. Also, the most important question: Are they hiring David Wise to do the entire soundtrack? It's not a true DK game without him and that's saying something. If this new DK game turns out legit at E3, (and assuming the rumors are true) and not disappointing, I'll be mostly impress to buy it day one.

2D DK is just so damn good though. I kinda hope next DK is 2D. Tropical Freeze was amazeballs, and us not getting any more of that in 7 years is a freaking crime.

Nintendo hasn't put out a bad 3D platformer in almost 20 years (Super Mario Sunshine) so I say go for it.

Yeah but we've had quite a few 2D DK games... a proper 3D game would be something new & different. But yeah, I'll take either. But my hype levels for a 3D game would be off the charts.

Remember playing the original on the N64, and i just could never get into it. Both banjo games and the rayman on the n64 were so much superior that i stopped playing DK out of boredome.

I'll be cool with a Donkey Kong game, but if a Banjo-Threeie got announced I would lose my flipping mind.

None of that Nuts & Bolts crap. We need a proper Banjo-Threeie. I hope with his resurgence in popularity in recent years and Nintendo putting Microsoft to shame by giving the duo the proper modern design update thanks to Smash Bros. (What the hell were they thinking with the ugly character designs in Nuts & Bolts??), maybe they get the message that fans want a sequel.

I too would be all over Threeie as well, and they did these fugly characters to Pefect Dark as well. Not too sure wtf they were thinking.

@hardwenzen: Rare needs to get their heads out of their asses with their pretentious crap they've turned into since Microsoft. They've literally spoken out why they don't want Banjo-Threeie during the Nuts & Bolts days. Something pretentious along the lines "oH wE'rE gOnNa IgNoRe ThE fAnS cAuSe We'Re LoOkInG fOr OrIgInAl CoNcEpTs LiKe KiNeCt."

Like stfu Rare, and make Banjo-Threeie already, or just give the franchise back to Nintendo cause they at least know how to properly design your characters better than you can.

Metroid Prime 4 has been my most hyped game for a while now; if Banjo-Threeie was announced, that would skyrocket to my most hyped as well.
