Don't even know why I bought this console over the standard PS4 any more. At least Horizon: Zero Dawn, Uncharted 4 and Ratchet & Clank look great on it.

Same cannot be said for Persona 5, Bloodborne, Prey and a myriad of other games.

Game is a stuttering mess thanks to incompetent programmers. Here i thought only PC's had performance issues.

Of course, developers are not going to bother with mid gen upgrades. User base is fucking tiny.

Yeah, PS4 was already doing good and they werent in the same boat as MS, which needed a mid-gen refresh. Then take into consideration, Ps4 will most likely need another refresh to incorporate HDMI 2.1. Do They announce yet another console refresh or just move on with PS5?

I still need to get Horizon zero dawn.

Back on topic: Yeah ill stick to the standard ps4. I have goten so much more economical about my gaming lol. Never buying games that I am not super excited for for full price, not buying launch consoles, only paying for online play if I know I will have time/games to enjoy

Yeah because it's only one game. The vast majority of titles don't even have Pro enhancements and some among the small amount that do have problems.

FF XV is a mess on the Pro. Rise of the Tomb Raider had frame pacing issues. Prey runs like shit. Then the countless games that straight up don't include any Pro enhancements even post-release like Persona 5. Yeah this console is a failure.

Dude, it's a freaking upgrade console, not another next-gen console to begin with! What makes you think the Pro was gonna make any difference from the original PS4?

Never really cared about power, I only give a damn about the games and the exclusive games I played & enjoy had be amazing.

Number of listed games with VR enhancements: 43

Number of listed games with Boost Mode enhancements: 166

Oh there were but last I checked all the modes were undesirable. Either you were stuck at 1080p and 30fps like the base PS4 or you could unlock the frame rate which resulted in a jittery mess. That was after a couple of patches too. Haven't replayed it in a while though.

VR requires you to, you know buy the VR headset on top of the PS4 Pro. This thread is about the PS4 Pro. Not about the PS VR on the PS4 Pro.

I'm happy with it.

Sure, it can't run most games at native 4k, but 1440p, 1600p etc are a good boost over 1080p and already show close to no jaggies. On the top of that, some of the games i play run now at 60fps (Battlefield 1, No Man's Sky, etc).

@Juub1990: You just doubled down on your contradictory statements.

I'm not being a smartass. I'm calling you out for a horrible argument.

So what is it. Is the PS4 Pro at fault or the programmers? You've not clarified that. Or is it the programmer's fault the PS4 Pro is a failure? What constitutes a failure too? You're trying to make a bunch of vague statements to ramp up your post count, not actually make a legitimate argument based on your opinion.

Did you read? The PS4 Pro is a complete failure because a myriad of games don't support it. Prey is just one less reason to buy it but this time it's mostly on the dev. Doesn't change the fact that this console sucks at doing what it advertises.

It's not a contradiction. It complements the argument but I guess it's better to just take one sentence and ignore the rest of the post in order to try and be a smartass.

The problem with the Pro is that it relies on the devs supporting the Pro features. That was an error on Sony's part. They should have taken the route MS is taken with the Scorpio in which the upgrade in performance is automatic similar to upgrading a video card.

Yeah when you blatantly ignore the context of the post and leave out parts of it, sure

You equated "slight improvements" to frame rates to "higher frame rates" which is dumb and shows an utter lack of reading comprehension.

Just a sample of some of the 166 games with boost mode enhancements. Also, frame pacing issues cannot be fixed by the higher cpu clock. I'm not sure where you are getting this from...

Is a slight improvement, "higher" or no? I've also provided a link and pics of performance improvement that show more than "slight" improvements. Is 15-20fps a "slight" improvement?

When did I ever say frame pacing can be fixed by higher CPU clock? Boost mode supposedly makes the frame pacing in Bloodborne better. It doesn't change the frame rate.

Your graph shows exactly what I claimed, frame rates are improved ie, the target remains the same but the Pro is more consistent at running them. Your 30fps games won't start running at 60fps. Your 30fps games will remain locked at 30fps and your 60fps games locked at 60fps. That's why I said "slight improvements to frame rates".

He's not contradicting himself, you could argue he's nonsensical but I would disagree.

Developers efforts are partly responsible for the success or failure of the ps4 pro.

That doesn't strengthen anyone's argument on why they should buy a Pro.

I had no idea there was really no benefit in games.

The Pro has a lot of problems and in many ways it's a missed opportunity (I think it was a huge mistake of both Sony and Microsoft to go for higher resolutions instead of higher framerate).

However I wouldn't call it a complete failure. I bought it to play PS4 exclusive titles (everything else I play on PC) and although it's not 100%, most of these receive a boost in PS4 Pro. The best cases like Kingdom Hearts 2.8 and Second Son, receive a boost in framerate but even Uncharted 4 locked to 30 had a nice boost to visual quality on my 4k screen.

For those who have a PC needs to be reminded that the Pro was for those who don't wanna put up with PC at all, the same will be for Scorpio and Sony already admitted the Pro's purpose is to not let any gamers go to PC at all. I'm sorry but I'm not trying to be a jerk in your thread at all but I failed to see why anyone be upset with the Pro and if you have a PC, why blame the consoles failure?
