What "dream" game are you hoping for next?

It's a new year, so with that comes the rejuvenation of hopes and dreams before reality kicks in.

So what do I mean by "dream" game. Basically, I'm defining it as something you want to happen with no compromises. For example, for me, Streets of Rage Remake and Sonic Mania were dream games of mine, because I could have collected the 7 super dragon balls and not received anything more perfect and harmonious with my desires.

With that said, what type of game I want now more than anything is a new Mega Man X. Oh, and not a game of the quality of say Mega Man 11 mind you, but instead one that looks like the SNES games but plays like the Saturn/PS1 titles. More than that, I want it to build upon the best of the older entries while upping the challenge and gameplay. Essentially, I just want Mega Man X: Corrupted to be released one day, because it's looking like the MMX game of my dreams:

While MM11 was good, it still felt like a game with a small budget as opposed to a labor of love such as this. I want a MMX on the same tier as Streets of Rage Remake, Sonic Mania, and AM2R, which is what Corrupted might end up hopefully being.

Anyway, what type of game are you wishing for? It could be a new entry in an older series or something no one has ever made. Overall, this is just a fun opportunity to express your imagination.

When it comes to these types of threads a new Chrono game will always be at the top of my wish list. Would love to see a new Final Fight game as well.

TMNT Arcade 2. Streets of Rage 4 made me remember how much I loved the genre and TMNT Arcade was absolutely amazing.

I admit this is more of a wish list, but I consider these dream game potential lol.

• Bayonetta 3 - it's a dream for me, considering the franchise was about to go extinct until Nintendo came along. I trust Platinum/Nintendo to make this one was the best one yet.
• Shenmue 4 - but with Sega reuniting with Yu Suzuki. I was sad about Shenmue 3 not having the budget to be the game we really wanted.
• Silent Hills being resurrected - I was really excited about a Kojima horror game, although he said he still wanted to do one. But I was really looking forward to this IP coming back.
• Metal Gear Solid resurrection - I love this franchise too much to see it die. I hope it makes a comeback.
• Yakuza beat em up entry - lol, give Haruka her own game!

Bloodborne 2.

A proper Final Fantasy Tactics sequel, given the same level of attention as the FF7 remake.

Probably never going to happen, but one can dream!

Nintendo porting their beloved games to PC cause console exclusive is a slowly dying breed.

Considering Switch is on fire and Animal Crossing has hit 25 million units, I doubt Nintendo is thinking about it 😄

Could go for a proper 3d Ninja Gaiden sequel.

- Combat system pushing more in NG2s direction, but with the polish and tightness in design of NGB.

- Rework Karma/scoring to de-emphasize ET and UT reliance.

- No pace crushing "puzzles". Action devs used to think we needed stuff like that for variety. We're way past that now.

- Don't care if the game is largely interconnected, or strictly level based. Just make sure there is a chapter select and that all progression carries across difficulties, like most modern action titles.

- And definitely keep mission mode, even expand on it. That's some of the best shit in both NGB and NG2.

- Some degree of weapon switching would be a nice bonus. Not asking for DMC here, but even a two set swap like Bayo would be cool.

A new NG only seems like a matter of when at this point. Nioh earned my faith in that team. Hoping for the best... oh and I love Nioh, but please don't try to make it Nioh. Entirely different styles of play.

Yup. Nintendo games coming to PC officially would be fucking awesome, but good luck lol.

Nintendo will almost certainly be the last man standing when it comes to true exclusives. Not even looking at the high they're on right now either. They could put out multiple WiiU style duds back to back and still stick to their guns.

An actual new turn based final fantasy game.

Thief 5 - scrapping literally every awful choice made with 4/reboot. Use ray tracing, binaural audio, and a sophisticated AI that tracks the audio in realistic ways. Go back to large open levels with the ability to climb and interact with all of the surfaces. Don't even care about the story. Keep it simple and focus on A SERIOUS core gameplay experience

Lol yea, their business model has always been about controlling everything.

Right, and even at their worst times they remained crazy profitable. They always scale to the situation and bounce back.

Considering we don't even get "Nintendo Classics" on other platforms, not expecting newer stuff to go multiplat any time soon. These guys can't even come off an 8-bit game for us lol.

Well, Half-Life 3 would obviously be amazing but that's never going to happen. I'd also love a Mario Sunshine sequel, using the Mario Odyssey engine... but again, highly unlikely.

Honestly, I'd be more than satisfied with a Mario Odyssey sequel, that improves on the first game. That'd be gaming perfection to me.

There are three on my list. Hoping for all three on PS5.

1. A dark and gritty Ninja Turtles.

• Narrative driven
• Have different parts of the story unfold depending on which Turtle you play as.
• Third person
• Realistic graphics
• Include gore. Have then actually use their weapons and use deadly combat moves.
• Have the guys look like their original 1990 movie version.
• Have both couch and online co-op
• Add in co-op arena mode with waves of enemies
• Have unlockable skins for the various versions
• Have unlockable original arcade games that you have to go to an arcade to play in the game (a la Shenmue)
• Have unlockable original comics

2. A Dino Crisis reboot

• Keep the suspense of the first
• Keep the action of the second
• Ignore the third
• Use the RE engine
• Same camera angle and controls as RE2/3 Remakes
• Keep Regina and Dylan
• Combine the first two games into one to extend and rework the story a bit.
• Add online co-op (a la RE5)
• Add reversal mode where you play as a raptor and have to escape the facility. Takes place before Regina and Dylan arrive.

3. Shenmue 4

• Use the same engine as the third to save time
• Get rid of the stamina addition
• Give us the damn ending before Suzuki dies

About 50 hrs of Hades before it wore thin, but I liked it. Gave Factorio a go, good game, just not my jam. A good chunk of what I play is stuff that people here might not have heard of, or at least haven't tried. MAXIMUM HIPSTER. Jk, dig some popular stuff too, good game is a good game.

I get you, SW discussion is way more about the AAA flavor of the month. Bonus points for being exclusive or having some kind of drama surround it.

A lot of users here dig some really niche stuff, just doesn't seem to be the bread n butter of a successful SW topic. Probably doesn't help that the community is so tiny now. Hard to get a topic rolling when maybe a whopping two people are playing some niche release lol.

Now maybe if you push that Factorio Metascore, talk some sales number, can get something going here. 😁

Sleeping Dogs 2 been replaying the original game every year since it's release I just never get bored of it. I love the characters and the Hong Kong setting, fighting system, soundtrack etc.. My dream would be to have a true sequel. I know the studio United Front Games is no more but I would want for Square to reunite the team and bring back the main character Wei Shen with the same voice actor along with some other characters from the first game and set it in Tokyo.

@warmblur: That game came out of nowhere, but it was really good. It seemed primed for a sequel too, but then they had to go on and force some stupid multiplayer thing that ended up leading to nothing.

Have Koji Igarashi make another Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon but in 16 bit graphics and make it similar to ether Super Castlevania 4 or Castlevania Rondo Of Blood seeing how Konami doesn't even bother in making games again.

I've always wanted to play a game in the days before the early American frontier era involving the Iroquois tribes in the unsettled wilderness of the eastern territories. None of that Assassin's Creed 3 nonsense, something totally new and fresh.

Starcraft 3 - more like 1 than 2

• a Fallout 2 remake brought up to modern par. Still isometric, but fully 3D with adjustable camera, physics engine, destructible environments, full voice acting, orchestrated score, and modding support.
• a new, AAA Silent Hunter with a full, dynamic campaign. I desperately want a no compromises simulation of the War of the Atlantic, the Kriegsmarine, convoys, wolfpacks, historical missions (Scapa Flow), multiplayer, the works. If I was put to a choice, this would be it.
• a Panzer Dragoon Saga remake or sequel.
• a new Full Spectrum Warrior.
• a wingsuit game along the lines of Volo Airsport, except with AAA production values.

This had great potential but work on it stopped. Wish a publisher had grabbed it and applied some good TLC, all it needed was a good coat of paint.

• another STALKER, but that's in the pipeline so we'll see how it pans out.

obvious one but someone had to say it - a galaxy exploring, bounty hunting, star wars universe adventuring mandalorian game.

it almost certainly will be coming and has the potential to follow a number of gaming styles and genres. not that i'd particularly be in favour of it but they could even follow suit with the show and release it episodically hitman style. the pessimist in me think it'll be rushed (and botched) to capitalise on the show's current popularity, but it has such an abundance of video game appropriate material it could, could, be really good

I would love for someone to bring back the classic Ocarina of time formula.

• An open world of sensible size packed with secrets and puzzles.
• Each location and character being unique.
• Dungeons containing a unique item for puzzles and combat.
• These items makes it possible to solve new puzzles and open up new paths in the over world.

But make a much better combat system. None of that stat base loot, grindy shit. Keep it pure.

Bringing back this structure would be such a nice contrast to what the rest of the market is doing!

I've wanted something like the Dark Alliance (think Diablo if you're not familiar) meets God of War for like 15 years. (Viable stealth would be a nice bonus)

Nioh has the combat and loot (too much of it actually) but the magic isn't fun to use and it doesn't have the setting. There were a few RPGs that came close during the PS3 era but not quite up to snuff for one reason or another...(Kingdoms of Amalur, LotR War in the North, Untold Legends Dark Kingdom, Dragon's Dogma )

Ninja Gaiden 4.

I would really really really really like an mmo-light from Fromsoft. The main reason why is because you know they'll care about balance way more than in their singleplayer focused titles. The second reason is content support for the years to come. Its just not enough releasing 0-2 dlc's and be done with it. I want content support.

Kotor 2 level game with Divinity style game mechanics.

Something as polished and well made as RDR2.
