What game won the first half of 2018?

Going with GOW too.

I clocked more time in Monster Hunter World than any other game this year.

Monster Hunter, but GOW will take the entire year.

Most hours in Verm2 but Id still give it to GoW

Out of what I've played, Yakuza 6, Dragon Ball FighterZ, SotC remake, and God of War, it's definitely Yakuza 6. The other games were good, but they didn't hold my attention like Y6 did, which I even got the platinum for. Baseball and clan battles alone were probably like a 10 hour sink, and that's not including the regular substories and mini games. Plus, it has Ono Michio, and no one fucks with him.

I have 4 of the games you listed at my house.

Monster Hunter - haven't played yet.

Sea of Thieves - havent played a whole lot but definitely not the winner.

SoD2 - haven't played yet.

Farcry 5 - can't seem to get too excited for it. Played about 2 hours worth over the last month.

I've been putting more time into my 4th Skyrim run than I have any of those. Only game I am really looking forward to in 2018 is Red Dead 2.

Lots of great games to see in first half of year.

We are doing much better in the twilight years of this generation than were were last generation when it was Sony alone still producing quality games.

No need to haggle over which ones are the best there's a good spread of AAA titles to choose from looking at the list and the 2nd half of 2018 looks even better.

But if you're a PS4 owner to get privilege of having the best of that available selection though ;)

Obviously sales. Great sales directly affect a gamers gaming experience. Everyone knows this.

It was definitely Yakuza 6 for me but I also really enjoyed Far Cry 5. I didn’t play God of War and don’t really have any interest in it but it seems to be the popular choice.

People are still in the honeymoon phase with GoW. I loved the game but I have played and enjoyed MH:World more. What GoW did outstandingly well imo is the son/dad relation. Normally it's super cringe in games but I have respect for how they did it in GoW. There were very few letdowns too. My main letdown would be that I expected some more escalation/ crazier boss fights.

Monster Hunter World gets my vote. Having such an awesome time with that game and I’ve put in a ton of hours already.

Bayonetta 2 for the Switch and Dragon Ball FighterZ are excellent games as well.

Far Cry 5, even though Gow is going to win the popularity contest.

It was a toss up between MHW and GoW... Went with GoW since I'm still playing it, and I'm basically maxed out on everything to do on MHW... My HR is like 240 something. Both great games though. And lol to the two Lems that picked SoT.

Hope we get some GoW DLC this year... Maybe to open up the other realms.

@drlostrib: My definition of winning is whatever game I personally felt was the best for me this year. I hope others don't just pick a game based on sales alone. This should be a personal experience poll.

For me, it was GoW, but I think it's a toss-up between MHW (which i've yet to play) and GoW.

Hyrule Warriors for me easy. Just got in a few days ago and cannot put it down.

GoW for me but the only interest I had was GoW and MH. I might get back into MH but after 5 missions, I feel the game's more of a chore.

MH's charm should hopefully bite in a few more missions but so far the ambiance seems a little goofy with the palicos and weird cheery base/UI vibe. Such vibe should be a good contrast from the Sony exclusives though. I'll have to let the MH world sink into me slowly I guess.

Toss up between Hellblade, Owlboy and Gorogoa (I know they technically didn't release this year but they did on XB1).

As weird as it is, Ni No Kuni 2. I saw that game and immediately fell in love with how it looked. I even had a dream about playing it. lol. I don't know why it affects me this much, but the heart and mind want what they want.

Monster Hunter, put 168 hours into that game before I stopped playing everyday. For me the other answer could be MGS:V, I added about the same amount of time I played Monster Hunter, and that was to my already 500+ hours.

GOW in a blowout, Ni No Kuni2 is one of worst game I’ve ever played it’s so boring and easy and the story sucks

Oh really? I remember seeing it on Steam and went "oh, a Rocket League ripoff or something" and never looked at it again. :P Might check it out. Maybe they should've gone with another name so that people don't think they just wanna ride on the Rocket League success.

Monster Hunter World probably won. Haven't played it myself since I'm waiting for the very slow to arrive PC version. Other than that, maybe Celeste. Haven't tried it out yet either.

@Litchie: 2 are on Gamepass, one a friend talked me into and the other my son talked me into. Will be jumping into SoD2 this weekend. Arkham Knight I got no excuse for though. Maybe I'll finally play that after this Skyrim run. Hell, I even bought AC Syndicate and never got around to it. They just gave that one away for free. Bought AC Origins for my son for Xmas too and haven't played that yet. I am bad at this. I think I'm gonna suspend myself from buying anymore games till Red Dead 2. Thank you for making me realize my addiction. Just more money to spend on comic books anyway.
