Which handhelds do you own? Which get the most love?

Right now my Switch is getting no love. I play on my Deck and Vitas at home, while I play my PSPs at work. Just beat Burnout: Legends. Yee-haw!

3ds gets the most love because it’s all digital and has easy accessibility, no need to swap cartridges.

Switch gets most love. Really only pull out the GBA for the kids to use on long car rides. NGP doesn't work anymore, but most of the games I had are in the NGP Collection on Switch.

Zero. Used to have a Game Boy, but lost it on my flight to England.

I do want a Steam Deck, but bloody hell is it hard to find resellers in my neck of the woods. Much easier to get an ASUS ROG Ally, but I won't touch that until Microsoft does something about their handheld UI.

Currently I have a launch 512GB Steam Deck, new 3DS XL, a Switch (Launch Model) and a Funkey S (A tiny GBA SP).

At the moment the deck is getting the most attention. I'm currently playing Dust: An Elysian Tale. I'll then be moving onto thronebreaker.

I also have Bayonetta 3 on the go on the switch but it's on the back burner. I need to fix an issue with me SN30Pro+. The start button is a bit iffy so turning it off is a pain. I don't want to play it using joycons.

I play a homebrew game on the Funkey S called Lander 2 from time to time.

I haven't played the 3DS in a while. I did do a small raid on the store before it closed so i must get stuck into those. Retros Donkey Kong country is one of them.

I use the Game Gear the most, but I haven't used it in a while.

3DS got the most love, more than my Switch does.

Love my Analogue Pocket.

Portable FPGA gaming with an open ecosystem for system cores. The screen looks great.

Got all the main Nintendo ones, 3DS has most likely been used the most. The Switch stays docked, thanks to it's crappy battery (launch model).

Was gaming on my Retroid Pocket 3 today, does PSP really well.

The next generation is coming out soon and can do Gamecube and PS2 on the go.

The Deck is awesome because I can play pretty much all the games I already have, so it's #1. Probably the DS is my favorite traditional handheld, followed closely by the GBA SP.

Still Windows, which suck on handhelds. Also, still sceptical about Intel Arc driver support.

I gave up after the DS lite. Was tempted by the 3DS, but Nintendo shut that down.

To be honest, I haven't loved handheld gaming since the original Game Boy. GBA did nothing for me. There was something irritating about the SNES style graphics to me. I think it's because I loved the SNES back in the day, but now it's not something I want to go back to.

is the rog ally that good? I have the deck but ive thought about getting the rog ally. I heard the battery life on the rog is poor though, and theres some issue with the microsd slot failing because of excess heat. Still, fairly tempting to grab one.

Is the Lenovo Legion Go an option for you? I have it and love it. It has a trackpad and a scroll wheel which makes navigating Windows a lot easier. I even use the scroll wheel in games sometimes like for FPS because switching weapons with the scroll to what I want is quicker than using the gamepad option. The scroll wheel also has its own button I can press on. The bigger screen also makes it easier to navigate by touch.

Switch OLED is the only handheld I have currently... And I play it nearly every day.

However one of my biggest regrets is not keeping some of my old handhelds, like Gameboy & Gameboy Advance ☹️

@hrt_rulz01: you can just get a ds lite. It’ll play all the gba games if you start to collect the cartridges again.

Vita definitely gets the most love cause of trophies. Switch is used now for TotK and little else

GBC and NDS are favorites for the nostalgia.

3DS was decent.

Switch mostly for indies and Smash.

Deck is the best

Owned an original Gameboy when it came out, and my friends bought me a Vita for my birthday in 2013. The only time I use the Vita is on flights, and the last time I did that was 2020.

The only two handhelds I have bought and used recently are the ROG Ally and Nintendo Switch, but I play both of them docked 95 percent of the time.

Oh, does Game & Watch count? I have Zelda, Donkey Kong, Parachute, Ambulance (not too sure about the names of the those 2) and a few others, but I haven't used them in 10yrs or so.

Sure, but the problem remains; Windows sucks on handhelds. Having better pointing interface is a band-aid at best.

I'm not in a hurry to buy, so I'm willing to wait and see if Microsoft will finally put in some actual effort first.

I still have my Vita.... Though I can find it at the moment. Lol. It's in a bin somewhere.

Docked? Really? Interesting... I would be the opposite. Handheld 99 percent. Every once in a while it goes in the dock just to see if it still works. Lol

For me I just don't see a reason to play the Switch in handheld mode when the sofa, dock and ununsed TV is two steps away. That would only mean worse screen, graphics, controls and sound.

Same reason why I don't own a Steam Deck.

Would I travel a lot or have a TV hogging family, things would be different.

Strangely still own my og Gameboy and Gameboy colour. I own a switch oled which gets most of my play time.

It's easier to list the ones I don't have. The ones that get played these days are: Steam Deck, Analogue Pocket, New 3DS XL

@madrocketeer: The Ayaneo Next Lite won't be running Windows and it's supposed to be $300 ($100 less than Steam Deck). Valve is working on a version of the Steam Deck OS that other OEMs can use. Maybe we'll start seeing more handhelds using Proton to run games.

Yeah, I heard, but there doesn't seem to be a timetable for that.

Kinda waiting on who'll get there first, really; between Valve supporting more devices and Microsoft improving their arse UI.

None at the moment. I've had a 3DS and PSP.

@madrocketeer: Ayaneo is not waiting for Valve, they are using HoloISO, but yes it would be cool to see official support from Valve and for MS to improve Windows.

Off all the ones I had since I started I really to it's a tie with the 3ds and Gameboy advance ... Psp would have been my immediate number one if it weren't so fragile
