What Gamespot Users have to say about Elemental: War of Magic

Elemental is a diamond in the rough, the early release left an unfinished feel to the game.
Stardock, has had a very successful run with Galactic Civilizations games. This one one come so close you can feel the potential to greatness but it comes up short in a couple of departments. First the graphics and the... Read Full Review

I so wanted this game to be all that was promised, having been a huge fan of the MoM title back in the day
I love turn-based strategy games, the pace, the scope, the complexity, and the challenge. I enjoy grinding out the resource management and the research trees and building my empire of accomplishment. However, this ga... Read Full Review

So disappointed that decided to write this. Seems a lot of reviews 9+ are paid to talk up the game. It's beta at best.
Bought it on impulse (both meanings work here - Impulse is the distro system, and I actually did buy it spontaneously), and every day I come home from work to find a new patch - version 1.06 now or something. It's prett... Read Full Review

Great old-school 4X RPG/Strategy Game
First, I'll grant there have been some technical difficulties at the outset of this game. That does detract somewhat from the initial experience. That said, however, the game itself is great. It's been ages since I've... Read Full Review

Patching post release allow Elemental: War of Magic to live up to it's full potential. And there's a lot to love.
When I first heard about E:WoM , my first thoughts ran back to 1995's Microprose release of Master of Magic (I believe it was '95). This comparison is certainly not unwarranted, and Stardock has made no qualms about the ... Read Full Review

A complete let-down unfortunately. I got sick of this in less than a few hours.
If you've played any of the Heroes of Might & Magic games and any of the Civilization games and have come looking for something new, don't waste your time. This game is a bit of both the aforementioned games, but without... Read Full Review

Disapointed with release version(s), but the potential for an AMAZING game is there. Give Stardock 1-3 months to polish.
If you like TBS and/or fantasy oriented games, you will EVENTUALLY want to buy Elemental. A couple days after release the game still has a lot of technical problems, needs more and improved content, significant UI im... Read Full Review

Terrible interface, dull game-play, thin audio, and listless campaign. This is no Master of Magic, not even close.
The buzz I was getting about this game was that it was to be the spiritual successor to Master of Magic. However, this flat, characterless offering falls wide, and low, of that mark. The interface is one of the mai... Read Full Review

A very large number of bugs and unfinished features ruin what could have been an awesome game.
I honestly wanted to love this game, but I simply cannot get past the fact that Stardock have released a pre-beta game and are trying to convince us it's a finished product. Off the top of my head, here's a list of mi... Read Full Review
