Bethany's forum posts
It is true. Your blog, she is gone. Judging from the signs on the site currently, I'm going to say that currently our databases are eating themselves but your data is just fine. I will file a report for you!
Edit: I can see your blog now, which reaffirms that it's a funky database thing. That's known and being worked on, so bear with us a little bit.
Zeus, please read the forum announcement for more information on how to vote. You need to go to the existing award pages to see the Reader's Choice nominees; the Reader's Choice tab is not for voting.
I'm still collecting info on the page refreshing, so keep reporting! (Please answer all the questions I outlined above as it makes it much easier to track down.)
Yeah, no, there's been only one vote. I posted in here to clarify how you actually vote, since people were just following the link to the Reader's Choice tab and then not understanding where to go from there.
To try and reduce some of the general confusion, I'll lock this thread and let it sink; the other vote thread is still stickied. If you're having issues with your vote options resetting (note, all votes get stored, so if you're able to vote again it didn't get erased, it's a duplicate), go ahead and check out the other thread.
Investigating. When did you first notice this?
I still can´t vote in the readers choice category, there´s no votes, nothing until now.

Did you try the links I gave above? You do NOT vote from the Reader's Choice tab--you vote from all of the other tabs. The RC tab is for announcing the RC winners, not for voting.
Drac, did you never vote? Do all your categories look that way?
Yo,
I know it's not super-intuitive, but the voting options are found on the award pages which support Reader's Choice voting, which is anything under any of the Awards tabs: Special Achievement, Dubious Honors, Genre Awards, Platform Awards, and Game of the Year. Once you've clicked on a tab, click to the relevant awards page.
For example, if you wanted to vote on Best RPG, you would go to Genre Awards, then click on Best Role-playing Game, which would bring you to the following URL:
http://www.gamespot.com/best-of/genreawards/index.html?page=10
The nominees for the Reader's Choice voting will then be listed. Each entry should have a big orange Click To Vote! button underneath it. Choose your winner, click once, and your vote will be submitted for that particular game.
That should get you voting! If you're having other vote-related issues, report them in the other thread and be sure to give complete details:

Remember, you can vote in ANY category, just browse through all the pages.
Hey guys,
First off: Yes, we do keep a close eye on voting, and will strip suspicious blocks of votes if we discover tampering. Abuse of the voting does not go unnoticed.
Secondly: Votes you've already submitted should definitely count. We've not been able to replicate some of the problems talked about in this thread, and since the reports are vague to begin with, it'd really help if those of you with issues would help us out with the following information.
- What internet browser/version number are you using?
- What is the URL of the page you're having an issue on? (In this case, the URL for the category you're voting on and whatnot.)
- Upon clicking your vote, do the vote options immediately disappear? (i.e. do the buttons change from "Click to Vote" to the percentages of total votes--which is what they're supposed to do) If they do not, what happens instead? Please be specific about any error messages or pages you might be seeing--screenshots help.
- After you've voted, have you gotten the option to vote again? If you have, include the category URL and the amount of time that passed since you voted initially (an hour, a day, a week, etc).
- Did you clear your browser cache/cookies between votes, if they refreshed?
We can't say for sure what's up yet, but it seems a case of the voting options refreshing for some reason, not that your vote was "lost". Thanks for any further information you guys are able to provide; I'll update this thread with any additional news.
