Switch or more of the same Xbox One X? The X brings nothing new but additional pixels. Buy a PC for that instead. I pretty much stopped buying consoles and console games for about 6 or 7 years now. It was just not worth it. Last of Us was nice, however. But that's it. Switch will be my first console in a long while. Contemplating purchasing one next year January or so.

I would stick with your current phone and wait to hear more about Pixel 2 or Surface Phone. iOS is too restrictive, and you can't make phone "yours". The result is every iOS phone is the same save for slight customizations in the widgets menu. I have a Pixel, and I customized its setup and widgets, so it's mine and looks beautiful.

I am finding the game to be really fun. I enjoy the exploration and colony-building aspects of the game. It is pretty satisfying. Did people expect another trilogy and a carbon copy of the story-building and setting of the original trilogy? Andromeda is seemingly meant to be different, and wanted to avoid becoming a yearly recycle (erm, release), which people despise, no? It is great fun and will keep me busy until Destiny 2 is out on PC.

I plan to buy a 1080p monitor to upgrade from my 1440 x 900 monitor, hopefully I can can find a cheap decent (usually an oxymoron) 24'' monitor in the store if not, online it is

Yes, but I wouldn't recommend it because I had one for a long time. I would get frustrated by how single-core performance was a huge bottleneck since it is far behind Intel chips in that area. And, many games are optimized using only one or two cores of a CPU. It became a huge problem for me whenever I fired up a CPU-intensive game such as Victoria 2.

However, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang quashed these rumors during an earnings call last week saying that Volta will not be replacing Pascal in gaming anytime soon.

“Volta for gaming, we haven't announced anything. And all I can say is that our pipeline is filled with some exciting new toys for the gamers, and we have some really exciting new technology to offer them in the pipeline. But for the holiday season for the foreseeable future, I think Pascal is just unbeatable. It's just the best thing out there. And everybody who's looking forward to playing Call of Duty or Destiny 2, if they don't already have one, should run out and get themselves a Pascal.”

Not a conclusive answer, but if he is true to his words than this just bought amd sometime lower the price after recouping some money on the launch and then rush Navi out by next year.

or Volta is a significant upgrade, but he just wants people to spend as much money they can on their current cards then upgrade again for Volta. ;)

I think I pushed mine to the max possible, and it is a stable overclock. But, how does it compare to others?

@Kjranu: iPhone 6 starts at $300 on Amazon (and still rapes every Android handset in benchmark tests and real world usage videos)

iPhone 7 factory unlocked 32GB starts at $500. And is uncontested in scientific-testing environments.

Try again.

I'm sure people care about benchmarks when they browse Facebook or watch Netflix.

It's a complete annihilation. Apple is generations ahead of anyone else in the mobile world. There is no substitute for an iPhone.

And that single core performance...... wow.

Oh, that's nice. People can browse Facebook faster on an iPhone.

@Kjranu: Augmented Reality is already set to be the next mainstream user interface.

It's the natural progression of things, and is already favored over VR interface concepts.

Stay with the times

I cannot see myself using anything virtual. It's just ridiculous. The things that we can feel and touch WILL always triumph over things that we cannot.

I would say switch right away. Spending $800 to $1000 on an iPhone is idiotic. There are great Android phones for just $200 to $300, and Android phones that match iPhones in everyday performance cost only $300-600. The Pixel is a flagship Google phone, and that costs only $649 for the baseline model with 32 GB of storage. Switch to Android, and save yourself hundreds of dollars. The Apple "experience" aka gulag is not worth your hard earned bucks.
