Hello

I am looking to buy a new gaming PC - my current one is from 2009 (see below, with a few upgrades where I have put the year I purchased those).

Do most people tend to buy parts and build the PC themselves or buy those custom made ones on pcspecialist for example, or buy pre-made configurations these days? Any recommendations of one over the other? (I am based in the UK btw)

My budget is £1000 (ideally not really more than that). I have a monitor (Dell U2412M bought in 2014) and peripherals etc. already.

If you have recommendations for parts I should buy pleaseeee help me out - I haven't looked into this stuff in years so am completely out of date.

Current configuration is:

intel i7-920 2.67GHz

intel DX58SO ?extreme motherboard

Corsair DDR3 6GB RAM

MSI GTX 760 Twin Frozr IV OC 2GB GDDR5 (2013)

WD 500GB HDD

Seagate ST1000DX002 SATA 3 1TB (2019)

Asus Vento Case

XFX Pro 550W Core Edition PSU (2013)

I will be most likely playing on this monitor for now (maybe an upgrade in future) and maybe would like the ability to sometimes stream to my 4K TV for controller friendly games.

Thank youuuu and apologies if I have missed any key pieces of info out

Hi. So currently (for PC) Metro 2033 is £2.49 and Metro Last Light Complete Edition is £4.99. However the redux versions of both games are £16.99 (50% off if you own the original; if you bought the original and then the 50% off redux version it would be £10.98 for 2033 and £13.48 for LL overall).

I'm just wondering if its worth even buying the redux version of the game. I've heard the graphics are/were great when the games came out. Is there much improvement over the originals?

I have a GTX760 OC and play on 1920x1200.

Should I buy the originals, buy the redux, or wait for the redux price to drop?

Thanks in advance

Hi. So I have saved up £200 and would like to buy a new monitor. I've been playing on this (18.5" 1360x768 60Hz 5ms) for too long now.

My System

i7 920 2.67GHz

MSI GTX 760 OC Edition

6 GB RAM

I have enough space for a 24" but not enough for a 27" on my desk. Am really looking forward to playing at a minimum resolution of 1080p (higher if possible in my price range) and an overall better experience. I don't need speakers since I will use headphones but if they are in there its no problem either.

Mainly will be playing a range of games including LoL, Watch Dogs, Bioshock Infinite, Tomb Raider etc. and maybe some CoD or Battlefield. (not sure if this makes a difference). Other users may use photoshop or look at images and a swivel would be great to view vertically. Also I sit about 27inches away from monitor. Not sure if more information is needed?

I have done a bit of research and it seems like these are quite popular. Do you guys agree or is there another monitor that I should really consider? I'm not so sure which specifications are more important or which panel type is superior and so any advice or specific recommendations would really be helpful. Thanks in advance. :)

In price order:

BenQ RL2455HM

Acer H236HLBmjd

Acer S275HLBMII

Asus VS238H-P

Asus VN248H

Asus PB238Q

Dell Ultrasharp U2412M

Would these be worth the extra money? I'm not fussed about the 3D but they do have a higher refresh rate.

AOC G2460PQU

Asus VG248QE

Thanks.

Hi

Thanks for the responses.

I got the budget wrong - its more like £250.

I have been thinking and I don't really NEED a blu-ray player part of the package but it might be good to have one anyway. I do want one package as I most likely will not be modifying/expanding/upgrading. I will probably not have an increased budget and would really like to buy it as soon as possible.

I looked up Onkyo and only found one system that is just above price range and that is this £280 HT-S3505.

I also found the one I mentioned in the first post (Panasonic SC-BTT500) from richersounds for £250.

Can you help me out with giving me a whole system in one, either with or without player (cheaper if w/o a blu-ray player) for around £250?

Or do you think I should go with either the Panasonic or Onkyo? Between these two is it worth paying more for the Onkyo?

Thanks

Sorry if this is posted in the wrong forum.

I am looking to get a home cinema system to go with my TV:

Panasonic TX-P50GT30B

Budget is around £300 £250.

If I have a Panasonic TV is it better to get a Panasonic system to go with it or does it not matter?

If anyone could recommend me a specific system that would be great.

I have found this one (SC-BTT500) for £250 and the reviews seem good but I don't know if something else would be better.

Lastly, are there any systems with just speakers and no blu-ray player? I would prefer to buy a PS4 (and use its blu-ray player) and buy the speakers system separately if its works out at a good price. Is that an option?

Thanks

Edit: No longer want a PS4 (sorry), budget changed

Can you recommend a game that has FPS/RPG elements (kind of like Deus Ex style) with an anime theme (kind of like Final Fantasy) that is on PC?

Are there any PC games which you can play multiplayer with those in the same room? Maybe by connecting more keyboards/mice to the same PC, like how you can with controllers on consoles?

Also is there anyway you can play online co-op or multiplayer with a member of your household using the same copy of a game (even if on a different PC)?

Is there anything similar to what I am asking?

Thanks.
