Rated Games

The RSM-HQ game list is not accurate in a 'favorite' order, namely with the sites set-up I've done my best to make the list explain my thoughts on each game, and how much I enjoyed them.

Also not all games I play have made this list, but rather, the ones I felt had a lasting effect.

*I also removed the ones that didn't interest me as a gamer. This is namely to avoid spite within the GS community, some of you actually liked those games. And would rather have a more rational conversation on those games, than hate mail.

If you'd like to know my harsh opinions on games such as 'Thief reboot', 'Dragons Age: Inquisition', 'Little Big Planet 3', 'The Witcher II', 'Dishonored 2', 'The Elder Scrolls Online', 'Ninja Gaiden II', 'God of War: Ascension', or any other game I've been critical about? Just PM me or something, let's at least be civil about it.

So take the list as you will, it's all just my opinion after all. Less hate, more love for games.

Kind regards

Game Release Date GameSpot Score Rsm-hq's Score

Super Mario World

So we can all agree Super Mario 3 set the standard. That said World took what M3 did right and made it more accessible. Easier? Yes. But more diverse worlds, and fantastic flow makes this my personal favourite of the 2D Marios.

9

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

A solid entry in the series but highly let down by its underwhelming online options and lack of quality in that area. If you just want a party brawler with much fanservice? no game will do it better. But that's what the game is, and offers little out that bubble.

7

Super Street Fighter IV

With less focus on adding more Shotokan warriors, Super adds enough improvements to make a re-release. Brilliant fighter. Though given just one option? Go with Third Strike online, Super doesn't quite have the punch of the sprite based classic.

8.5

Taito Memorial: Bubble Bobble

I actually have the DS version but yeah. . . {GameSpot is a funny place} Top tier platformer. & holds up exceedingly well. Tons of levels and a steep challenge. It can be played as a fun party game, as anyone could play and enjoy \Bubble Bobble.

8

Tearaway

A 3d platformer that's not afraid to try new things. Exceedingly clever, and well designed. Only issue I found with this game was poor camera controls every now-and-then. It's a great platformer, that's always fun to play.

8

Tekken 6

Forget Scenario Campaign this game is awesome. If just, not the sequel jump desired from new hardware expectations..

8.5

Tekken Tag Tournament 2

Improves everything from Tekken 6 and essentially the best Tekken ever made. I even love the hilarious tutorial mode. But if Tekken 6 wasn't for you? Tag 2 isn't your game, even though this time around it addresses past complaints.

9

The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth

At first you'll feel limited with its four angle-axis shooting. But hoho the more you invest in this game, the more it unlocks. In the long run it'll play like Bomber-man, or at least that's the only game I can name it's like. . . Randomised areas and power-ups make for countless hours of replayability. It's a horribly dark themed game that seems cheaply made, look past that and have fun. It's great!

7

The Chaos Engine

Multiplayer is addictive. Hosting some great levels and shop upgrades. Difficulty is unforgiving and you'll be lucky if you and a friend break past Zone 3, why I say friend? Because I wouldn't recommend CPU team-ups.

9.5

The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind

A game that seems to be footed into a tabletop RPG, than an enjoyable video game adventure. It's not as bad as I make it seem. Yet some of the common elements in Morrowind seem to be restrictions of the early Bethesda games. And though I like all the levelling options and decisions. The execution comes across as superficial compared to its successor TES: Oblivion. Morrowind has a more interesting world however, and if nothing else is worthy of praise.

8

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

Apparently the worst version for Bethesda's Dragon slaying simulator. I clocked for the platinum in the first month on PS3 so take the 'broken game' rumours with a pinch of salt. It has some framerate drops, and glitches like anything Bethesda makes. All the same Great game. If just more an action game, than an RPG.

8.5

The Evil Within

A throwback horror classic. Gory, insane, and very ugly (in the right ways). It plays better than Resident Evil 4. . . Oh wait, no. . . 'Let me explain' it has better mechanics, but lacks the polish. Resulting in a game that seems rushed. Its continuously absurd difficulty spikes are also worth noting but are quickly realised as being a common theme, thus making you very aware early on. Really good all the same. Pity it lacks the finesse Capcom gives Resident Evil.

7

The Evil Within 2

A fantastic improvement over the original game while maintaining its identity and appeal. Inspired by the likes of Resident Evil 4, Alans Wake and Silent Hill 2. This is a sequel worth checking out if you like the Survival Horror genre.

9

The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask

Majora doesn't get enough love, a sequel that went in a darkly positive direction. I applaud the focus on these demented characters over the world itself. It took Ocarina and told a Steven King worthy tale, and it worked.

8

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time

(3DS version) I like it when remakes don't try and make changes that damage the game, but just focus on refinement and perfection. This is one case of that. An RPG for the ages and the best game & version in the series.

9

The New Zealand Story

Colorful and plays great. Hidden gem among retro platformers. The controls are tight. & has many hidden levels.

7

The Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition

One of the best point and click games of all time remastered, would recommend the P.C. version as crude console interface was a crutch for a playthrough. It's a game that'll stick with you for years to come.

9

Transformers: Fall of Cybertron

A Transformers game that was actually fun? Yes. It's clearly inspired by Gears of War other than the lack of cover. It also could teach a certain director how to write a Transformers story. The only big flaw I found was the ending chapter.

7.5

Uncharted 2: Among Thieves

Uncharted 2 built on everything the original lacked. As a result became one of the best games on PS3. The single player alone makes it great, and multiplayer was fantastic. And no PtW model seen in U3 which was overall sloppy third's. . (sorry, sorry it has to be said). . So with that, Uncharted 2 remains the series high point till a true successor is made.

8.5

Vanquish

As mechanics go it's the finest 3rd person shooter on PS3, however. It's short lived and art-style is on the bland side. Trust Platinum to always deliver the good where it counts.

8.5

War for the Overworld

War for the Overworld isn't perfect, flaws and all it's the Dungeon Keeper III many always wanted. Visually (in-game) is really nice. The banner is a tedious flaw, though I know many will find that subjective, so overall great game. But could have been better.

7

Warcraft II: Tides of Darkness

More strategy than III, namely because it doesn't focus on overpowered RPG elements. & editor mode is loads of fun, so was Warcraft 3, but felt 2 was more original in the editor department for its time. Also had a console version that actually works. If you only play one RTS WarCraft, this is the one you want.

8

Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos

To be clear, I still enjoyed WC3. It's a. . Can't do this. Campaign clipping is a terrible way to force variety. Story was horribly paced. Why am I talking about story in a RTS game? Is that relevant? Well, it's because Blizzard pulled one on its fans and sneakly hide an RPG game in our build-a-base game. Very little strategy required, it's all about leveling heroes. . Hmm.

7

Way of the Passive Fist

An interesting take on the Beat em' Up genre. Single-Player only, odd detection's, and heavily reused assets stop this being great. Yet a good idea and well executed mechanically.

6

Yakuza 0

Like the other Ryu ga Gotoku games it's best if you look at these games as a television show that at times will let you play a flawed but satisfying 3D Beat em' Up. Summing it up like that might be unfair as the series also contains mini-games. However none of these are really at a very high standard when compared to the talented voice acting and gripping story. Yakuza series is a story first and it's best to know that before being disappointed with it as a game.
