Oh, you mean like Half-life 2 which has a great story and characters I felt more attached to on an emotional level than I did in Heavy Rain?

Or Bioshock 2 which had me feel for the daughter figure as she attempt to reunite with her father figure?

Or Portal, which had great writing and fun puzzles to mess around with?

Or System Shock? Or Deus Ex?

You're absolutely right, First Person shoots don't have story or interaction or an ability to exhibit character growth and empathy! How silly of me to think David Cage's approach to gaming was to fill a game with named actors then decide that the only way to tell a story is animation -.-

I'm so tired of this "go to the FPS" argument. Its the mewlings of someone who fundamentally disregards gaming history and story progression in the genre. I've been brought to tears by games that are nothing more than sprites and still images, by books that are nothing but words, and by a damn good first person shooters.

David Cage sits around and lectures the entire gaming industry on the merits of his games and why his hollywood approach is 'maturing' gaming and he's doing us all a favor. Far as I am concerned, I got a better emotional investment out of Ghost Trick than I did Heavy Rain, which was at best as good as an episode of Law and Order.

Ghost Trick integrated its gameplay into its story. It didn't require QTEs every few minutes between movies to get its point across. Little sprites and words gave me a better mature, emotional investment than Heavy Rain's hamfisted attempts to pull my heart strings.

So, how about you think before you turn around and lecture anyone who didn't like your interactive movie by telling them to go play a genre thats actually brought us a lot of damn good games and stories.

I completely agree on your thoughts about the romance angle. I always thought it was really more of a devout friendship, teeting on a crush between the two and nothing more. Like I mention in my blog, I think the interactions between them is more of trying to apologize more than anything, which, imo, is what the ending is saying.

Except its clearly TOLD that the entire zerg were corrupted. Its the PLOT OF THE GAME. It was the plot of BROOD WAR. Kerrigan was corrupted and lacked free will, as well as the rest of the zerg. Freed from that, she and the rest of the zerg gained a level of free will not previously possesed.

So if we're talking character, old Kerrigan was just an irrationally evil person that killed by the billions to little end goal. She had no seek for revenge, few grand plans, etc. She was an animal that killed stuff. While I still thought she was a great character, she wasn't any better or worse than she was now.

How about you actually play the game and listen to the story, as its obvious this reviewer did not. This is all clearly explained and every motivation given context.

This is good writing. Gamers just happen to not be used to subtly.

Because the primal zerg were not tamed in the first place. If you paid attention to the story, Amon tamed the zerg and took away free will and intelligence in order to place all the zerg under a hive mind. Select zerg -can- talk, but only the controllers. Did you not pay attention to the queens at all?

And yeah, she was getting tortured with a crystal. She got saved, and stood up. Whats your problem? If someone was tazing you, and then stopped, it would be possible to stand back up.

Your post is more inconsistent than the story.
