@GH05T-666 You should be seeing our coverage of GDC Europe start to hit the site within the hour. Press conferences start on Tuesday, and the show kicks off proper on Wednesday.
@g7o7 The funny thing about Inafune - we actually had to interview him at our offices during GDC because he was ill when we were in Japan. We figured the ComCept offices looked so similar to our conference room that we could pass it off without having to explain ourselves, but maybe being away from home explains why he was less passionate about the Kansai region of Japan.
Of course we would love to do a Tokyo episode, and we have some decent opportunity to pull it off. Keep those fingers crossed. :)
@Oldboy08 The thing we thought was interesting was that Alex May (the australian who appears at the end of the video), who we spent a lot of time with during our time there, told us that Tokyo is Japan, but everywhere in Japan outside of Tokyo is a lot more representative of the rest of Asia, such as China, Vietnam, Thailand and Malaysia.
Regardless what the perception is, I'd love to see more of the country.
@phatsanta @Lord_Vader I don't feel the complaint is without validation. For the Tatsuya Minami (the director of Platinum) they do go by very fast. He speaks much quicker than any of the other developers, which is part of it. But his interpreter was someone he works very closely with, and my suspicion is that they have a bit of a shorthand in speaking to one another. So he could speak on a a topic with a few succinct phrases, and his interpreter would have to expand on that so it would make sense to us. That results in a lot of information that needs to be presented visually, very quickly.
I do apologize, producing subtitled interviews in this depth and capacity was a learning experience for us, and a rewarding one. Hope it isn't too much of a hurdle for you!
@liononzion Those of us who were lucky enough to go on this trip had been to Tokyo at least once before, but had never been to Osaka or Kyoto before - and we absolutely fell in love with both cities. Looking back, its tough to know which city to recommend to first time travelers, but at the end of the day, if you have the opportunity to go anywhere in that country, take it.
