It's not the season I wanted, nor the ending for that matter, but considering several episodes before the finale were pretty weak, I thought the series finale itself was quite good, and ended the show on a strong note even if it wasn't the best way. Dexter's mercy killing of Deb was unexpected, and I liked the fact she was his final victim. I was content with thinking he'd died after speeding into the storm, and initially disappointed with that final scene. But upon thinking about it, I'm more satisfied with the conclusion than I originally was. His self-imposed exile meant he was living the remainder of his life miserable and depressed, the ultimate punishment for the damage he'd caused to the people around him. But like I said, the season should have been completely different and should have followed-up immediately after last season's finale with a season-long manhunt for Dex.

Off subject, how are liking Seaon 8 of Dexter? I'm disappointed. Season 7 showed a glim of redemption with the Maria / Deb faceoff, but the whole Hannah / Brain Surgeon / Vogel triangle is far from how I expected the finale to play out.

Admittedly it is a bit of a weak payoff for a series that deserves better and set-up so much possibilities for the final season. The writers are playing it too safe and going out with a whimper, whereas it should be going out with a bang like Breaking Bad is.

I thought after the way Season 7 ended, Season 8 would be Doakes all over again for Dexter with everyone from Angel to Masuka revisiting the Ice Truck killings, making life a living hell for Deb and Dexter from every angle. Season 8 doesn't even feel like a finale. It's like a Hannah 2.0 soap opera (Rita meets Poison Ivy). I'd rather see Lumen return who was way more of an interesting character honestly.

Breaking Bad finale has definitely caught my interest more. The only reason I'm even watching the final episodes of Dexter at this point is because I've been following since Season 1.

Yeah there was so much tension to be had with that. The time jump at the start was the beginning of the problems with everyone seemingly forgetting about her death and Dexter's arrest. And now going into the finale there is still a villain (a lame, dumb one at that) still going. Seriously, main characters should have been finding out and dying left, right and centre but nothing slightly compelling is unfolding. Very sad.

People who complain about that need to toughen up and quit whining, there are too many annoying people like that about.
Im confused. Wasnt the whole point of American Psycho that
He was imagining himself as a killer but not really one?
lamprey263
I interpreted the ending as he actually did it, for instance the apartment scene was the real estate woman didn't want the truth of what happened there to diminish the value, and then he confessed to his lawyer who thought it was a joke and didn't even know Patrick Bateman was really himself, thought he was another guy, people throughout the show kept thinking Patrick Bateman was a douche but in person kept thinking he was someone else. I'm sure after a while all these finance guys start all looking looking the same. Anyhow, when the lawyer says stuff like "I saw Paul Alan last week" or whatever, who knows why he said it. Simply could have been a fictitious bragging point, a lie he might have told other people which ironically became an alibi for his client,, the movie paints a pretty weird picture of how shallow the privileged culture is, like bragging about getting dinner reservations at places that are exclusive even for the elite, or how he was almost in tears because he thought he wasn't going to get a good table.
Yep I agree

Kind of obvious really. The more frustrated you get online the less cautious and more complacent you'll be.
