@SchnabbleTab: 1080p on a 4k TV looks exactly like 1080p on a 1080p TV.....

That's only true theoretically. In practice, the quality can vary.

My 1440p monitor (some asus 165hz gsync monitor) should display 720p content identically to a 720p screen but in reality it looks worse due to interpolation/enhancements applied in the scaling process. Even with proper scaling, you're still introducing a new blank grid between the upscaled 1080p pixels.

I have an Xbox One X just for Halo 5, Master Chief Collection, and 360/Original backwards compatibility. Cuphead/Ori I just play on my computer. So it's literally a Halo box, but I still think it was worth it.

My good friend of 20+ years lives in a different state so we play a lot of Halo online, fun way to re-live the glory days of 4 console Halo system-link. I would've stuck with my old Xbox One, but the HDMI port was failing and Gamestop had a good trade in deal so I dumped the giant VCR.

In prior generations I was always a huge Xbox fan, but this generation the PS4 has been crushing the Xbox in terms of exclusive content. I have a PC with a 1080ti so there's not even an incentive to play multiplatform games on the Xbox.

I did upgrade to an Xbox One X, just to have the most powerful console for console exclusives like RDR2. Other than that the Xbox is just a Halo machine in my eyes, the PS4 is where I go for unique experiences like Horizon, God of War, and Uncharted. It's crazy how few games there are to play on an Xbox if you have a PC and PS4.

I use a 1440p 165hz monitor for computer games. Going to get a 4K TV in the next month or so to use with my computer and Xbox One X.

@comp_atkins: I use Verilog for all my projects at home, switching to VHDL just for the summer is going to suck. At least I'll get a break from using Xilinx ISE.

@plageus900: With Harris. I had some other leads but ultimately went with them because I knew I'd be on a productive team, it also goes really well with my phd research. I'll be working on writing FPGA code for real-time DSP.

I know you've been working on a CompE degree (finished?), ever gotten a chance to mess around with FPGAs?

dresses like a scumbag and smells like a dirty sock.

Describes me pretty well :p Just kidding, I at least shower and wash my clothes. I wear jeans, and a solid color t-shirt to my lab and meetings with my adviser. Too hot down here for button up shirts. No real dress code for graduate students that I know of.

I have an internship over the summer where I'll have to wear black pants and a dress shirt everyday. Not looking forward to that. I am looking forward to programming FPGAs for space applications :) Just need to brush up on my DSP/VHDL.

If it has been internally modified, I'd also crack it open and take some pictures of the install quality. No one wants to get stuck with shoddy mod work.
