@Gelugon_baat Believe it or not, my win ratio for my time as a diver is fairly even with my time as a shark. If you're on a team that knows what its doing (i.e., working together and using tools), handling a shark isn't that strenuous.
As for light, flares add some extra visibility. Even if someone glimpses a shark in the flare's light, it puts a red border around the shark that you can see through walls. The sonar buoy scans the area for sharks, and will automatically put a red border on anything hostile. It's actually not bad in that regard. The maps, however...
@asatiricaldalek The PC version of the game earned an 8.5: http://www.gamespot.com/reviews/minecraft-review/1900-6346734/
Also, the PC review came out not long after Minecraft left alpha in 2011. All the changes that have occurred in nearly three years, making Minecraft better, are reflected in the score you see above.
Yes, I see where you're coming from with the tutorial, but I feel like it does a great job walking you through the steps. But mistakes can be made. I'll likely never forget how it told me to brew a fire resist potion and then walk through a wall of lava. I got caught up on looking around in the lava too long and the potion ran out on me. Now there's a practical lesson for you.
Plus, if you leave the castle area, you can check out both desert and jungle temples, giving you a taste of what you can expect from Minecraft. It's like a game in itself!
Also, very true on the multiplayer aspect (and well written--I should have used that line...). My friend and I played the Xbox 360 a lot back then, and every day we came up with a new set of goals. Minecraft is a fantastic social game.
@igorphoenix @bldgirsh The PC review came out not long after Minecraft left alpha (in 2011). A lot of things have changed since then!
And yes, I gave it some major ups for performance (buttery smooth!) and accessibility (tutorials, tooltips, simple to setup online games, etc.). But I'm not too sure why everyone is upset about the PC score, especially for a score gap of merely 0.5.
