I would personally roll all social media into the same boat. Social media is one of mankind's great mistakes. Let's put them all on that boat and nuke them from orbit.
This is honestly one of the best summarizations I've ever seen regarding not just Twitter, but also all other social media.
A few years ago, I deleted my Twitter account and replaced it with a private one that I only ever used to follow news sites; you know, a makeshift RSS feed. But when Twitter added that dreaded # icon for seeing what was "trending", it became more and more tempting to see what was "trending". So after only a year of this silent Twitter use, I killed it, as well. Figured there was no harm in actually just opening a browser tab and seeing any news I wanted to read that way, instead.
The best (and saddest) part, to a degree, is seeing how much more free time you have for yourself and those most important to you when you aren't scrolling through that crap for a couple hours a day. And how easily the temptation can claim you.
