I would personally roll all social media into the same boat. Social media is one of mankind's great mistakes. Let's put them all on that boat and nuke them from orbit.

This is honestly one of the best summarizations I've ever seen regarding not just Twitter, but also all other social media.

A few years ago, I deleted my Twitter account and replaced it with a private one that I only ever used to follow news sites; you know, a makeshift RSS feed. But when Twitter added that dreaded # icon for seeing what was "trending", it became more and more tempting to see what was "trending". So after only a year of this silent Twitter use, I killed it, as well. Figured there was no harm in actually just opening a browser tab and seeing any news I wanted to read that way, instead.

The best (and saddest) part, to a degree, is seeing how much more free time you have for yourself and those most important to you when you aren't scrolling through that crap for a couple hours a day. And how easily the temptation can claim you.

I beg to differ; some things around here never change.

I've seen my brother play for a bit, and the game looks fun, but I won't be able to play for some time sadly.

Also amazed the hype was met here, even if I hadn't been following the thread.

Nintendo is the least likely of the three console makers to censor something. They've released multiplats on their systems with less censorship than the same game on other platforms. Even Conker got censored by Microsoft when it was brought over to the Xbox from the N64.

The irony of this is Tokyo Mirage Sessions was censored to some degree, though I imagine the call was made to maintain the T rating in the west since the material that was censored revolved around gravure modeling which might skirt the M rating here in the west. And since the game didn't sell well at all in Japan, I'm willing to believe the censorship decision stemmed from a desire to boost potential sales of the game in the west.

That aside... @oliver8114 there's little chance SMT5 would be censored considering it's Atlus' call this time, not Nintendo's.

I think people under-estimate how addictive gambling is. There are even hotlines for people who play the lottery.

Good thing that I was never into gambling as I would be dead broke by now.

Indeed, gambling addiction is real and destructive. And it sucks that I can't help people I consider close friends because in their minds, it's not gambling, it's just a video game. One that routinely drains them of money albeit not as quickly or drastically as a casino would.

I've since learned to just avoid these people when they start talking about their addictions with smiles on their faces. Not worth my own personal heartache, I'm such a soft-hearted fool.

That Jimquisition episode raises fair points. I know a few people myself who are essentially slaves to the gambling mindset brought about by loot boxes and gacha nonsense in F2P mobile games.

Sad when no matter what you say to them to try and get them to stop dropping hundreds of dollars into it, they shrug you off, say there's no helping it, and keep doing it.

So is gaf gone for good or just for a short time?

Not that it really matters to me since I was never a member or even visited the site more than twice.
