Hopefully this will mean that Baten Kaitos 1 & 2 is getting a physical release in the US after all, but they're just being slow to get to it.

A few weeks ago I would've said Nintendo would be fine going 3rd party, but I still think they know what they are doing best with their consoles of the big three. They can do wonderful things with slightly older tech. I hope they keep making consoles as well as games.

I'm actually kind of glad you revived this thread. It's ironic because here I am, a Switch owner again! lol

And... Idk, a lot of those points still stand. Nintendo controllers are not cheap and add up the cost quickly. The first-party games (most of them) hold value for the life of the system and are not cheap. You will inevitably invest in a Nintendo system, you just will.

I think I disagree with my point from earlier this year that Nintendo NEEDS more powerful hardware. I think they do real great with older tech. Would be better if it was more powerful, but they manage surprisingly well. I just wish more of that value was passed on to the customer.

@Macutchi: @Litchie: Yes, that is the guy! He always marched to his own drum beat for sure lol. I wish I could remember more great people like Baranga, but for whatever reason my memory just doesn't work that way. I remember most of you now by your avatars, which you don't change nearly as often as I do. : D

@Willy105:It most definitely is still stuck in that same spot, 10 years later. Wow that's hard to believe lol. That redesign was the single definitive moment where we lost a lot of great posters on this website.

@uninspiredcup: Do you refer to the people who left in 2013 as traitors? I mean I can't really blame you, they're the ones who gave up and left. They could still be here keeping things alive like us, but they just left. We lost some really great bloggers back then.

By this point I barely remember a lot of the older users from circa 2008-2015. I still remember how the 2013-ish shake up changed the site and scared off a lot of people. It killed the social aspect of blogging here.

I guess I do think about Jaysonguy from time to time. I remember we'd always Clash over things on the forums, often in disagreement but occasionally we'd see eye to eye.

But most usernames and personalities got lost in the shuffle for me. People I followed on here I barely remember and yet I do remember Jaysonguy. I guess it paid to be someone with a controversial take on things.

Edit: Well I guess I barely answered the op's question about where I'm at now.

I visited GS since like 2000, but didn't become active on the forums here until probably 2008 or so.

Nowadays I'm hanging in there. Still gaming, still have a job, finally got a girlfriend again after 7 years of being single. I don't visit gs as much these days but I'm still around.

At best Microsoft will turn things around and save ActiBlizz, which I view as a sinking ship in recent years. They could revitalize the Blizzard IPs. At worst, ActiBliz just sits there and doesn't do anything like most of the other devs Microsoft has bought.

I highly doubt the industry will "end" based off of this merger. I think the only people it really effects are Microsoft and ActiBlizz, and not so much the rest of the gaming industry.

And Microsoft has tried to get the Japanese games for years. Something always goes wrong. I personally do not put the blame for Japanese devs avoiding the XBOX consoles on Microsoft - I put it on Japanese devs. The fact of the matter is if you're a small Japanese developer you are probably going to want to put your game on either the quirky and less expensive Japanese console (Switch) or the powerful and pricey Japanese console (Playstation), and the XBOX just can't move units over there no matter what they do. While we're at it we can talk about how most of Europe also bought the PS5.

I don't honestly know what the future holds for XBOX. I have one, I like it, but it has pretty much become the "Fortnite" machine for me. I don't really see enough quality exclusives on the system that I want to play, nor do I even have a lot of time for a bunch of games these days. I'm not sure the Playstation would fare much better for me. Nintendo is the company that makes the most interesting games, but then they have outdated hardware. It really might have been great if it was Nintendo buying XBOX instead, since XBOX has the reverse problem.

All I do know is, if XBOX goes away, then Playstation loses a major competitor. And that might not be so good for the industry.

I'd want to be an Andorian. The founding races don't get enough representation in most Trek.

Can't remember if actually say one of these in TNG or DS9.

Vulcans were mostly relegated to background characters after TOS, Andorians and Tellerites were ignored.

This. The only time I have seen an Andorian in TNG (and mind you I haven't seen every episode) was when Data had this daughter who could choose her form, and one of the options she had to choose from was an Andorian.

A few of the games listed there are out and have been out for a month or more. Tears of the Kingdom, Diablo 4, the new FF, that Star Wars game... Apparently they're all out. Redfall has been out for a while now.

Are we no longer keeping this up to date?

I also kind of felt like Endgame was the conclusion to things. I haven't had much interest in trying to keep up with the movies they've released since.

I guess for me personally, the original Avengers and the original plot the movies were working towards was the what was worth watching for. And I didn't even see every Marvel movie before that point.
