@sammoth @system3142 I remember there were a few counter-strike gamers back in the day who used to believe scaling down to 640x480 would allow for better aiming accuracy since the heads would appear bigger. I don't know how widely held that belief was, but there you go.
If there's noticeable aliasing in the 720p version, then yes, it makes a difference. A very small difference, but a difference. I wish there was a stable cross-platform benchmark that could objectively resolve this issue once and for all.
Too much time and effort is being spent in mastering lighting engines and texture packets. Playing a game, every time I see a new set piece I'm always like that probably cost them so much time and money, I'd better get the most I can out of it. I see that as a problem in games. As game production and development gets cheaper and innovations in developer tools allow for lower costs and time, I think we'll see a greater move toward story focus rather than pure gameplay focus.

I just hope there's anti-aliasing and decent frames in the 1080p offered by next gen consoles. Should be enough for me until this stuff gets cheap enough.
