They should remake FF13, and split each one in the trilogy into 2 -3 titles .

Can't fail.

FFXIII was already in three parts and it failed.

@st_monica: Except the underlying numbers show a weak performance.

There has been no major release outside Helldivers II and Dragon's Dogma 2 this year, and both beat FFVII Rebirth, and comparing the sales to other FF games show a weaker launch.

Investors are wrong a lot of times.

@Jag85: Yeah, I don't get it either, haha.

Anyway, let's hope for his sake that the canceled games are not new DQ or LIS games, but something else like Eidos related as you speculated.

BTW, I recently read an interview with Kitase and he said that they made FF7Rebirth in only about 3 years. The current Square Enix has changed a lot from what they were when they spent 10 years on FF15 lol. That's another reason why I'm optimistic about their strategy of focusing on high quality games.

Some DQ games should have been cancelled actually, like the manga game.

LIS is not developed by SquareEnix directly, but by Deck Nine, and the franchise is still strong and the next game is being developed right now.

Think they need a new JRPG IP that's like Kingdom Hearts level.

Kingdom Hearts can't really grow its audience either.

Well, the guy is very funny. Too bad he doesn't wear long stockings like the real thing, haha.

I think the new president is making a good strategic decision by being selective about the games to launch and getting rid the bad apples early on, even if they will cause losses.

I hope that the canceled games in this announcement are not FF or DQ related (well, not likely), but games that were outsourced to western studios (such as Outriders or Avengers, which did not meet expectations).

That said, Square Enix is doing great this year and will continue to do so.

FF7Rebirth is one of the most critically acclaimed games of the year and will most likely be named this year's GotY.

The FF16 DLC and the crossover with FF14 have also been very well received, and the upcoming release of the PC version will further expand the audience.

Of great interest is the release of the FF14 expansion pack this summer, which is one of the most played and critically acclaimed MMOs and has also extended its reach to the Xbox. This expansion will bring tremendous benefits to SE.

Also, Visions of Mana, due out this year, looks very good and promising.

Next year is expected to see the release of KH4. The previous game, KH3, was a huge hit, selling 7 million copies, and KH4 is expected to be a huge success as well.

Square Enix has much better material than this cancellation, and I'm very optimistic about their future outcome .

No.

FFVII Rebirth is selling below expectations, the FFXVI expansion is middling, and really PC versions of these games won't amount to much sales.

Visions of Mana could be audience limited as well.

SquareEnix is shown to be unbale right now to grow their audiences of their IPs and it shows.

Doesn't solve the fact that they can no longer expand the fanbase of their franchises.

Seriously, they have done more to help Stellar Blade sales than any ad the developers have put out. It is hilarious.

So how is Stellar Blade problematic? Is there offensive or dangerous stereotyping? Nope. Are children being sexualized and are Eve and Lily children? Nope. Who does Eve's sexualized looks actually hurt? Nobody.

Eve's looks is a complete non issue but here we are, idiotic Western game journalists can't help themselves. And now all there alt right imbeciles are out of the woodwork. Congratulations game journalists, bad meets ugly, thanks to your hypocrisy.

The hypocrisy that ignores the fact that women worked on Stellar Blade, or that in Asian countries, female gamers actually like how their female characters are depicted. Only speaking for themselves and ignoring how everyone else feels, the western game journalist's ignorance is telling.

Hell, they don't even understand Eve as a character, calling her flat and without development, when in reality, her personality and character journey are pretty subtle. Game journalists struggle with subtle characters, for example, Kena. All wrapped up in her looks, and couldn't even judge her story properly. Or that Eve and especially Lily may be LGBT, and out of Korea, that is something (Korea is far less supportive of LGBT rights than Japan is).

Here is to Stellar Blade embarrassing journalists (and alt right idiots at the same time it seems) and it becoming a huge seller, and it outselling FFVII Rebirth, which it looks like it could, would be hilarious. Where is all the outrage from journalists with Tifa? LOL

@kathaariancode: Pentiment isn't even remotely close to being as good as TLOU, or TLOU2. or Red Dead 2. Or any Metal Gear. or BG3. or any Bioware or any Bioshock. Using the word "undoubtably" for a story that is dogshit next to the king of story telling that is The Last of Us.

Pentiment rightfully wasn't even nominated for best narrative, so you can add God of War Ragnarök (the game that undoubtably had the best narrative in 2022), the original God of War and many other games to that list as well.

But it is nominated for a Peabody, which is worth far more than a Best Narrative Award at the Mountain Dew Chugging Doritos Munching Game Awards.

Pentiment is a narrative masterpiece.

@texasgoldrush: Regardless of what you say these are about TV shows, we can't play these so they are irrelevant to SW.

So you didn't buy the games but sat through an entire playthroughs 🤦‍♂️ that's even worse.

Yet we have a topic on the Fallout TV series, right here on SW.

@texasgoldrush: Because I find this kind of stuff boring, and it's SW not TV wars after all.

You didn't care enough about FF16 and FF7R to buy them and yet you still made threads/comments about them.

Except games can win these awards.....

I didn't buy We are OFK (did watch an entire playthrough and liked it), and am commenting on it. See.
