Hi guys,

A friend of mine has some codes available which will let you download a fun iPhone multiplayer puzzle game for free.

Its called Gobang Social.

http://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/gobang-social-by-kwalee/id497961733?mt=8

If you'd a like a promo code for the game, say so in this thread and I'll try to send you one in a GameSpot message.

To use the code - go to the App Store on your iPhone - then the Featured tab - then scroll all the way to the bottom of the screen and select Redeem.

Hi everyone,

Long time GameSpotter and former GameSpot reviewer here.

I have recently been working at a new iPhone game developer, helping out with their first game. Its available now for free on the App Store and I would really appreciate some feedback from the awesome GameSpot community. Its a multiplayer puzzle game and there's even a chance to win a New iPad if you give it a go.

You can download it for free at http://kwalee.com/gobangsocial

There is a GameSpot page for the game too.http://uk.gamespot.com/gobang-social/

Looking forward to hearing your feedback! We're looking to improve the game a lot going forward so your opinions are really important to us.

The new iPad in particular has a lot more power for developers to play with so releasing a more traditional controller peripheral makes perfect sense for Apple. If they want to start taking even more gaming market share from the console makers, this would be a great way to do it. "Proper buttons" would open the iOS platforms to more innovative game ideas, if the buttons were used in combination with the touchscreen and other inputs.

Hi everyone,

Joe Barron here. You might have heard my voice this week if you listened to the latest epsiode of the GSUK Podcast.

I'm a long-time GameSpotter, including interning in the UK office and working as a freelance reviewer for a couple of years.

I know work at iPhone game developer, Kwalee, founded by David Darling who originally founded Codemasters back in the 1980s. We are expanding really quickly at the moment and we've got several programming jobs available.

It would be awesome if you guys could help us find a few extra candidates for these jobs. If you have any programming knowledge then don't hesitate to apply for these awesome jobs. You would get to work alongside some gaming legends, including Andrew Graham, who single-handedly developed the Micro Machines series. If you have any friends with programming knowledge then please let them know about these jobs too.

You can find out more about these roles and apply atkwalee.com/careers

We're also starting a podcast about iPhone game development soon, so keep an eye out for that and send me some questions about iPhone development if you have any :) @josephbarron or @kwaleeteamon Twitter.

Thanks everyone! Hope you didn't mind me gatecrashing your weekly podcast too!

One of the artists at my work has been creating Retina Display wallpapers from retro games in his spare time and they look awesome!

http://kwalee.com/2012/02/13/alexeis-retro-retina-iphone-wallpapers/

Check them out and let him know if your favourite game is missing as he's keen to make more!

EDIT: Links are being weird for me (keeps telling me the HTML is broken) so you may need to copy/paste the URL for now.

Depends on what mood I'm in really! I love the simplicity of the mechanics in MGS1. I love the symbolism and eccentricity in MGS2. I love the survival gameplay in MGS3. And I love the atmosphere, graphics, customisable weapons and gadgets in MGS4. Its like asking me to choose a favourite child! (If I had children :-P)

If you'd prefer not to always play shooters, Forza Motorsport 4, Burnout Paradise and any of the FIFA games are good calls for competitive multiplayer.

Probably my favourite genre. I regularly hit the top 5% of Forza 4's lap time leaderboards, but F1 games are where I do most of my racing miles.

I download a lot of games. However, if a game is available on disc as well, I will always buy the disc version. That said, there are loads of really exciting and innovative downloadable games that offer thrilling experiences for far cheaper than a full-price retail game. Because downloadable games are smaller in scope, they often come close to perfecting their gameplay mechanics as they are not distracted by the need to tag-on multiplayer modes or create a "blockbuster" game to advertise on TV.
