P.S. As I said I love the exsisting Nintendo franchises and I will most likely buy the new Zelda for the 3DS (after all, A Link to the Past is my favorite Zelda game) and the new Donkey Kong for 3DS. But I can see what these guys are talking about in the video.
@Blue-N-Yellow @xxsuperbananaxx @manicfoot Yeah but then they showed Knack, Drive Club, and Deep Down at the PS4 reveal. Brand new franchises! They make sequels to the old ones, but then they make entirely new ones. I made that clear when I said "Both MS and Sony still create squeals for their old franchises but in this generation alone they've also introduced some very new and interesting franchises that didn't exists on older platforms." Did you miss that part of my comment?
Also, I do agree with the MS part you said, about no really new franchises. I just mentioned them because had I only mentioned Sony I'd be pegged as a "Sony Fanboy".
But like they said in he video, Nintendo makes high quality games, and as far as the game play goes it's new and fun, but why not make new characters? Why not make new worlds? I think they could, I just don't see why they don't is all.
@manicfoot It's a new, simple puzzle mechanic but it's not the most innovative thing in the world. I think there's an XBLA and PSN game called Sideway that uses that mechanic exactly. I love Nintendo, and I love Zelda, Mario, Donkey Kong, etc. but they never seem to branch from their established franchises. It'd be cool if they continued to innovate and came up with entirely new IPs. So, I can understand his comment when he says "There's a lack of innovation".
I'm not being a fanboy or anything when I say this, I'm just going to use the fallowing as an example. Both MS and Sony still create squeals for their old franchises but in this generation alone they've also introduced some very new and interesting franchises that didn't exists on older platforms. Nintendo's first party games for the most part do seem to just rehash old ideas over and over again.
I don't mind that they continue the old franchises, but why not make an entirely new IP?
Yeah, I didn't pick up either one. Don't know why but neither interested me. Maybe game fatigue? I'm really sick of this generation TBH. It's been a while since a game really wowed me (the exception being Bioshock Infinite).
@Prime_28 But isn't that what we, the gamers, want? Skype and DVR capabilities in our consoles because it's so revolutionary? Those were the first 2 things on the top of my wish list for a Next Gen console! Must have Skype, and it must be my cable box also! Anyone else? No?
I want one, but there's nothing it has right now that's making me go out and spend the money to get one. The Wii U just needs time, but who knows if it will be able to hang on long enough.
