FF Tactics meets Anime. Honestly? It's not bad.

This game has many wonderful quirks to it. I found myself laughing out loud (literally) at many points in the story line. While it can be ludicrous and outright overplayed, it still has a strange ability to draw you in if you give it the chance. I found myself actually caring deeply for some of the characters and what they had to say. It is very innovative for a western audience and I think it approached its self delivery well. While the hype was all about nudity and sex, you actually won't find much of either. Instead it leaves a lot of that to imagination and I think (not confirmed) that much of it was censored because our FCC sucks majorly. With all that said, a breakdown...

Graphics:
Who are we kiddin, this is 2010 and the graphics are subpar. Some of the combos and special moves you can do still look pretty bad ass but it is not top of the line. However, the battle fields you come across are actually quite nice and have a level of depth that is respectable. I would love to see this game with some real graphics, but I got over the graphics due to how much I actually liked playing.

Combat/Playability:
Great and awful at the same time. The way you can link your players is awesome and the linked up attacks they do is stunning. Sometimes though attacks take way too long, in my opinion, and 1 fight can take upwards of 10 minutes or more. I know this is supposed to be a long game and all but give me a break. You can stop the animations to make it much shorter so that each fight is less than a minute but you lose a lot of the flavor of what this game has to offer.

Voice Acting:
The VA is amazing, although I do understand Japanese. All of the voice acting is in Japanese so if you do not know the language you will be very confused. Even without knowing what they are saying you can still hear the conviction and you can "get it" from the way they say it. There is an immense amount of emotion and damn good acting behind it. You will fall in love with the characters even if you do not know exactly what they are saying.

Interface: Very easy to use and I had no qualms with it whatsoever. That's about all I can say lol.

Crafting/Items:
Some of the best items in the game are crafted and it is one helluva grind. While it is very worth it, expect to put a lot of time into this game to get your "ideal" character. I liked it based on the fact that is was something new for me. It was fun and a goal to achieve. This game also has a ton of trophies (for PS3, and XBOX) and I am just one of those people who likes to go for the impossible.

Bottom Line:
Don't believe the hype, this game is not all about sex and breasts and vagina It actually has a decent story line and is well worth the effort. I personally loved it, the only reason I give it a low score is because I know the audience that receives it. If you loved FF Tactics and if you have always loved Japanese art you will find this game intriguing. If not, there is nothing here for you. Hell, the only reason I bought the game was because I loved FF Tactics, and through this game I fell in love with Japanese animation. So, do what you will, this is still a damn good SRPG. ;)
