User Rating: 8.4 | Armored Core: Last Raven PS2
Armored Core: The Last Raven is the final AC game to grace the PS2, which is both a good and bad thing. Ever since Armored Core came to the Playstation, there have been die hard fans of the exalted mech series, and seeing countless new Amored Core games on the PS2, some good, some not so good, the final game in the current gen/ last gen console is a decent end to the series on the PS2. Last Raven has much of the same as previous titles, including hundreds upon hundreds of customizable parts, everything from Boosters to Missle packs, to Napalm Cannons, Last Raven has it all in customibility. As for what Last Raven lacks, the storyline is somewhat more involved, if slightly than previous games, involving branching storyline missions that offer a little replayability to the game that might not have otherwise been present, yet even with this the storyline is mostly played out in long emails and boring briefings that don’t actually give out much useful information involving the actual missions. Other areas where Last Raven is lacking are the Graphics and Sound, graphics havent really changed much recently, leaving mechs looking slightly blocky and arena’s and environments looking extremely bland, and don’t even get me started on the sound effects, cannons sound like BB guns and Lasers sound like my phone when it vibrates and makes that shaky noise. But if you have a good friend who is into games like Armored Core that can play with you, the game offers much more enjoyment than the story or ordinary arena fighting. The meat of Last Raven’s enjoyment lies in the vast complexity of its customization options, giving the player near ultimate freedom in design and strategies, which in my opinion is by far the key element armored core retains in this installment.
