COD: Warzone And MW2 Doom DLC Is Straight Out Of 1994

Two of gaming's greatest first-person shooter franchises, Doom and Call of Duty, have collided in a new DLC pack for Call of Duty: Warzone and Modern Warfare II, letting players of Infinity Ward's latest wield two of Doom's most iconic weapons.

Doom's Super Shotgun, first introduced in Doom II, is a quintessential video game weapon that in many ways defined what a video game shotgun was all about. Now, in Modern Warfare II and Warzone, players purchasing the game's Doom Tracer pack for 1,800 COD Points are using the unassuming double-barreled shotgun meant to blow away demons to decimate the competition at close range. The icing on top is the fact that the weapon itself, and its reload animations, looks like it came straight out of 1994, the year Doom II released.

But that's not the only weapon from id Software's demon-slaying franchise that COD players can rip and tear their way through the multiplayer lobbies with. The Tracker Pack also includes the Doom chainsaw, a weapon that has appeared in every Doom game, for when encounters get up close and personal. The pack additionally includes several Doom-themed stickers, weapon charms, emblems, and a loading screen featuring artwork from 2016's Doom reboot.

Doom is just the latest franchise to crossover with Call of Duty. Modern Warfare II and Warzone's latest season heavily features the comic book character Spawn. Crossovers with other games and franchises, like Diablo IV, He-Man, and Evil Dead, are also on the way.

Tracer Packs purchased in Modern Warfare II like the Doom bundle will carry over to Modern Warfare III, as will most weapons and cosmetics. Modern Warfare III held both its early access multiplayer beta and open beta on PlayStation this past weekend. Those playing on all platforms will be able to take Modern Warfare III's multiplayer beta for a spin October 14-16, with early access for Xbox and PC players (and open beta access for PlayStation players) happening October 12-13.

Modern Warfare III will feature remakes of every multiplayer map from 2009's Modern Warfare 2, as well as 30 weapons, deeper gunsmith customization, a zombies mode, and more. Modern Warfare III releases November 10, with those who preorder able to play the game's single player campaign a week early.
